Prius owners and service shops servicing hybrid air conditioning if you are looking for a cheaper alternative then the DENSO recommend oil ND-11 but I still highly recommend only ND-11. Make sure you only buy ESTER oil in a metal can ***"NO PLASTIC"***!. If a shop or a DIY is replacing a burnt up compressor and not going to properly flush out the remaining burnt oil and metal and replace the expansion valve and condenser that gets partly plugged after a compressor bearings burn or come apart then in that case any old cheap oil dose not make any differences because the a/c will not preform to 100% efficiency any way and the compressor will never live a good long life. The Prius may come back to the shop a few times complaining of poor performance and some times it may work good and some time not, and noise may be another problem and the engine may come on much more often because of the higher AMP draw on the battery from the compressor working harder. As a TECH when someone ask you to diagnose after someone did this kind of repair is just chasing your tail. It's almost impossible to pin point the exact poor performance problem or intermittent cooling problem. You should not even try but I have been asked to too many times by TECHs and shop owner who just DO NOT understand if you do this kind of repair on A/C it is not forgiving, so some times it works (" is that called a repair NOT just guess work") You would NEVER EVER warranty this kind of work because it was not work. Part # TP-9775-0008 by Tracerline . If a shop or customer is not going to to the job right in the first place then be satisfied with the results and don't complain. If you want to know exactly were the problem is "LOOK IN THE MIRROR" !...
