2005 Pruis saving the customer some money? or not losing the job?. 87F condenser discharge temp. that's a delta T of 75PSI way too much they say 20 to 40 or 50 is normal but there is a lot of variables and exceptions to the rules now. on a good preforming Pruis I normally see 20 to 30PSI on a cold day. Yes we have a partially plugged condenser . Yes it will work for now. It will preform ok on a cold day like to day at 63F, but you can have a a/c system with 1/2 it's refrigerant gone and still get 39F to 44F out the dash duct temperature on a 63F day. What will happen on a hot day? on this same car?. This customer may make it all through winter and into spring and never know he or she dose not have a good preforming a/c system until the first hot day, that is unless the compressor dose not burn-up first?. photo 3 of 4 Now the big $64,000 question is, dose the shop tell the customer they are trying to save them money on a gamble that this will work? Dose the shop even have a clue the is only guess work or a gamble and not repair work? dose the shop say nothing and collect money and hope for the best? and then fix it if it comes back? I know I will see this car again or some other shop will?. I have seen this situation on transmissions replacements, engines replacements, suspension and alignments, charging systems battery and alternators repairs and replacements, on all aspects of a repair on cars. As the cars get more complex so dose diagnostics and parts replacement. Many shop owners not not want to invest in the cost to send techs for training and buy new tools it is just getting ridiculously too expensive! BUT HAVE YOU TRIED IGNORANCE LATELY?!... Everybody loses due to the ignorance of the one in charge. The owner of the shop himself, the TECH, the consumer. In California we live in the ( Caveat emptor ) that is Latin for buyer beware. There is NO training required, NO license required like a contractor, NO degree, the automotive industry is allowed to be self regulated, That's like letting the fox be in charge of the safety of the chicken farm!. just food for thought, There is a lot of well intent Techs and shop owner who just need a little help and guidance to nurture them along their way in the automotive repair industry field and their are others who just do not belong and pray on the innocent and need to be eliminated like cockroaches in a kitchen!!!... Caveat Emptor
