I'm looking at buying sheepskin seat covers (fronts and back) for my Blizzard. Anyone else already order sheepskin seat covers for their 2010? Which vendor did you order from and what is your assessment of product quality and fit? What color did you order an how well did it match your interior (mine is bisque)?

    Thanks!

I got a sheepskin from IKEA which (partially) covers the seat, but not the back. They are about $30 each and look great. Just gave me a little bit of extra padding. Needed some velcro to keep them in place.

I once did the same thing with my Gen II driver's seat:

    [imglink]http://priuschat.com/forums/attachments/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/8224d1206372056-great-back-support-your-seats-002.jpg[/imglink]

Then eventually I switched to this sheared (not the unshorn longhaired) sheepskin cover:

    [imglink]http://priuschat.com/forums/attachments/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/8382d1207091681-great-back-support-your-seats-020.jpg[/imglink]

But I think Pohaku is looking for the really nice, full (front/back/sides), sheared sheepskin covers -- the ones that typically cost over $200 for each front seat (don't think I've ever seen sheepskin covers on rear seats).

I'd like a really nice sheepskin cover too for my driver's seat. But so far I've been unwilling to spend $200+ for one.

Yes, I am looking at the pricey ones, which is why I'm asking here first. I'd hate to shell out $200 a seat for a product that has issues. I was hoping that someone had already installed some that they just loved and could recommend to me.

They do make covers for the rear seat as well - and surprise, they cost as much as two front seat covers.

Well, I ordered a set of the mid-level covers from Shear Comfort. Just ordered the front seats. We'll see how they turn out before I spring for the rear seat as well. The rear seat is only available as a custom job and costs more than the two mid level front seat covers. The mid level covers are described as follows:

Custom Sheepskin: Custom Seat Covers are pre-made from 100% genuine sheepskin, for specific seat sizes. The wrap around style leaves map pockets open and seat controls accessible.

So, no part sheepskin/part fuzzy acrylic covers. I'm also not buying the separate covers for the head rests as they seem unnecessary. I have the bisque interior so I went with something called "Mushroom." We'll see how it matches up. The covers accommodate the seat side airbags.

I'll report back on quality, fit and installation once I get them and put them on. Living in Minnesota, these are really great in the winter.

Thanks Pohaku. Looking forward to your report and, hopefully, pics. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on some nice sheepskins for my driver's seat.

You are close - and I see that one (you would need a tremendous number of similar tribbles - and sewing the pelts - uggh).

There was some random episode (Google failed me) where I am sure there was this furry beast - which looked similar - yet not so blond (not the babe Terry Garr).......

Ahh ... Mugato. He does look comfy. And a lot easier to make a seat cover out of than sewing a hundred of these guys together:

I think the most custom, sought out seat covers would come from the Lizard guy:

So how do you like yours?

I believe I just bought the same ones for my 2007 Prius (got them from a PriusChatter for around half-price ... they were used 3 weeks by him before he got new seats). They're a very thick, 1 inch high Australian Merino wool and made in China by Lammo (which apparently makes lots of sheepskin products).

I'm very happy with mine. The wool is fantastic and the fit is very good to excellent. Here's a pic of it on my driver's seat -- I think it looks and fits good (and this is before I've clipped all the straps on tightly), and they're supremely comfortable:

I like them a lot. I've had them in for a couple weeks and been meaning to take pictures before I post. They fit very well. Quite snug. Especially as they were not completely custom fit covers (which cost twice as much). What color are yours? Can't really tell from the posted pic. Mine are mushroom - I believe they called it. Matches well with the beige interior in my Blizzard Pearl. I'm not going to bother to get headrest covers. Now I have to decide whether to spring for the back seat cover which costs more than the pair of front seat covers. We had four seats covered in the preceding minivan and the kids and dogs are feeling deprived with their seat uncovered.:D Shipping was quick with lots of e-mail notices in between. Pretty good quality covers IMHO.

I'll try and get pics posted.

Mine are the Medium Gray which I think goes well with the Gen II "Dark Gray" (what an inaccurate description!) interior.

At $250 to $275 (depending on where and when you get them) for both front seats, I think they're well worth the money. If I had known they were this good for this kind of money, I would have gotten them a long time ago.

Note that the PriusChatter who sold me mine had gotten them from his local shop (I think an auto upholstery shop) in Southern California for $275 including installation. So I think that others may also be able to get them from their local auto upholstery shop for the same price and save themselves installation time.

Either way -- online or from a shop -- they're a good deal at $250 to $275 for two. Because I think they use the same sheepskin, I think they're just as comfortable as the tailored ones that cost twice as much, and IMO they fit and look good too.

Here's a pic from the Shear Comfort website. Looks like the "Tan" colored sheepskins on a Gen II Prius "Bisque" interior. I wish the photographer had taken the picture in sunlight with the flash off.

The rear seat cover, unfortunately, is tailor made only and runs $389. The pair of front seat covers in "custom" (i.e., all sheepskin, not a mix of acrylic and sheepskin panels) was only $247.

I finished installing both front seat sheepskin covers today. Here are two pics:

The fit is excellent all around with one exception -- there's a little bagginess in the top "shoulder seam" areas.

Sometime later, I'm going to stuff some foam or tissue (or maybe chicken cutlets!) in there to try to smooth it out and/or I might make those areas more taut with needle and thread or other means.

The other modification I'm going to make is to put tape over at least half of each velcro strip used to hold down the side flaps that are supposed to allow the side seat airbags to deploy. I might be a little paranoid about this stuff, but I'm afraid that there's so much velcro there that it might hinder airbag deployment. In any event, I see no need to have that much velcro to hold the side flap down.

    Hi;

A couple of quick questions: Firstly, I am led to believe that the air bag mod is simply a cut in the side material done up with velcro - is this true, and how/where is the seam?

Secondly, now that you've had them on for a while, how do you find they stay put without slipping when you're climbing in and out, since they don't cover the seat back?

I need something for my new Gen 3 (with only 500Km on it now) before they get dirty. Just can't decide between sheep or velour combos.

    Thanks!
