As posted earlier, my new Prius IV did not come with the driver's side carpet hooks. The holes were there, but no hooks. I had been putting it off going back to the dealer until my first oil service but with the recall news about the carpet, I thought I'd better get my butt in there and get them before the rush. At first they said that if my car didn't come with the hooks it probably did not call for them. That conversation lasted just about as long as it took for the next to the last word to reach my ears. Less than 5 minutes later I was out of the service bay with the hooks installed. I have already seen some people on here mention their car did not come with the hooks either ------get to the dealer and get them! That is probably the reason the 2010 Prius was not listed on the re-call. Without the hooks, the carpet could possibly ride up to the gas pedal.

It's still troublesome. So some Prius are arriving without hooks? Or with only one hook?

I'd still be worried. So far the 2010 isn't part of the recall, but with 3.8 million automobiles being affected I'd imagine the floormat stability problem goes farther than just "if" there are hooks or not.

Just checked "Eleanor" for hooks. She has both her hooks on the driver's side. After reading all this, I thought I would check. Maybe everyone else should take a trip to their garage/carport and check their own car for hooks.

My sister's Toyota Avalon was also delivered by the dealer without the hooks installed or anywhere in the car.

I told her that her dealer screwed up big time and that she should bring it back to her dealer to put in the hooks.

This type of screw-up by the dealer is really inexcusable and should never happen.

Boo.........I agree. Wouldn't this be on the pre-delivery check list? I would imagine this stuff comes in the trunk along with all the other stuff...like license plate holder, etc. Most of us wouldn't even think to check that kind of stuff......so thanks for posting the reminder!!!........

My 2007 Prius package 2 and my 2010 Prius V both came with hooks installed on the driver side. When I have my Prius clean by a third party, a lot of time they fail to attach the hooks to the carpet. I always check after a car wash that the carpet is attach to the hooks on the driver side.

Actually the Gen II came with hooks as well.

When comparing the all-weather mats in my Gen II to the all-weather mats in my Gen III, (when properly installed using the hooks) the Gen II mat sits much closer to the bottom of the accelerator. When the accelerator is pressed down, the edge of the mat is within 1 inch of the pedal so any slippage at all could cause a problem I'm guessing. The Gen III mat is cut with plenty of clearance under and to the left of the pedal.

Nothing I've read indicted if the problem is with the OEM carpeted mats or the OEM all-weather mats or both. I've seen some part numbers associated with a previous recall but no specifics on the current recall other than car model years.

That's right, the hooks come with the carpet mats. And if one buys a car with carpet mats, the dealer is supposed to install the hooks and the mats before delivering the car. This goes without saying. But the Toyota Prius website and brochure do say it, e.g., the website says the carpet mats come with retention clips and the brochure page for optional accessories gives the price of the carpet mats "installed":

Good eye...my 2010 did not come with hooks...it has been bothering me since I picked it up. I'm sure it will be easy to convince them to put them in for free now that this huge recall is out there... :)
