Just changed oil but indicator notice came on.

Set the odometer to trip A
Turn off car.
Hold in on the MPH/Kilometers button and push the power button-
hold both buttons till it is reset.
You will see a scale til service going from right to left.
when it is totally to the left let go.

Your done.
The reminder info in the GPS must be set seperatly.


This is off the top of my head but I think it is correct.

 

Yep, took me 30 minutes to find this in the Prius manual, pg.420. after about 29 minutes, I was getting steamed because I just knew it was a Toyota service reset only. Of course my blood temp came down after I finally found it. They could have been a little more forthcoming about maintenance data and give a page link.

 

Hello - Hold in on the MPH/Kilometers button and push the power button (make sure you hold down the brake pedal)

It should take about 2 seconds to reset.

How do you reset the oil change indicator scale ?

First - you need to hit the trip indicator button until you have "trip A" indicated in the display (I use this at re-fueling times)

Next - you will need to push the park button then the power off button - yes you will need to fully turn off the car.

Next - locate the MPH/Kilometers button on the dashboard. Press and hold down and then restart the car by pushing the power on button (hold both buttons down at the same time - when the scale is re-set, let go of both buttons)

Verify by looking at the scale indicator :cheer2:

So many wrong answers! Does anyone read the Owner's Manual even when they know the answer is there?

When the system power is ON, cycle the OD/Trip Mileage until it reads OD. (Folks, that is the total miltage/km used on the car since new.)

After that, turn the Power off. Then, while pressing the Trip/OD button turn the Power back on while holding in the button. Keep pressing the button for a few seconds until the Engine Service icon turns off.

Simple. I can't believe someone suggested doing this while pressing the MPH/Kph button which has nothing to do with distance.

 

Page 429 of the Owner's Manual:

The oil change system should be reset. Perform the following steps:

1. Turn the "POWER" switch to OFF with the trip meter A shown.
2. Turn the "POWER" switch ON with the MPH or km/h button held down.
3. Keep pressing the button until the odometer indicates "000000" and the multi-information display indicates that the reset is complete.

 

On the 2010 they changed they way it is done. Your method works for 2009 and lesser years. It does not work for 2010.

 

did your tech log the oil change into your maintenance log??

oops, just saw you have pkg 3...nm. on Pri's with MFD, there is a maintenance log that is available that allows "someone" to enter a maintenance schedule and actions. i was wondering if just entering that info in will reset it automatically.

i am a few hundred miles away from my first oil change. will definitely have to check that out

 

Here's my 2 cents worth: What good are Oil Life Monitors unless they're smart enough actually detect when oil needs to be changed.

 

Will this reset TripA and TripB? Or was that an 'extra free' service performed by the technician?

I had to get an oil change during a very long road trip vacation. Free item #2 was to fix my 'dangerously high' tire pressure (highway temperature at elevation of 6225 feet), by letting out enough air that they became UNDERinflated when cold after descending to sea level. Free item #3 was a giant wad of used and oily chewing gum added to the carpeted floor mat.

The price was good, $51 including the right weight oil. But I'd rather pay extra to avoid the three free unwanted services that they included, so the next mid-trip service will have to be through a different shop.
