"Better shine" is all relative. The Zaino is going to be more reflective...but the Carnuaba is going to be deeper and richer looking, in general the Carnuaba will bring out more of the flake. Again though...all of these changes are going to be fairly slight.

Thats what they think they are doing...after a couple coats though they're not actually getting much benefit in either department whether they think they are or not.

Thanks for the pictures. I'm sure my neighbors are thinking I'm crazy for compulsively cleaning my car especially since as soon as I clean it, it starts raining again and I have to start over. I think there's something about the "winter grey." When I bought it, it was pouring with rain. It continued to rain for about the next 4 days. Since then, it's rained probably 60% of the time, which is pretty unusual for this area. Every time I think of cleaning it, it threatens to rain and as I said, will start raining anyway soon after I've cleaned it. I'm beginning to think that I brought on an early winter with my purchase of the winter grey.

Do you really see any difference between the Z5 and the Z2? I applied AIO, followed by Z2, Z6 and Z-CS last time. I also have some Z5 but haven't used it on this car yet.

You should see my neighbors when I'm out there with the foam gun and using the leaf blower to dry the car off LOL

Hey, Steve -- whatever happened to your search for a IV with a solar roof?

I kind of backed off from it a little bit, been so busy I haven't really had much time to look around. Obviously you found one!

Last I heard, Fitzgerald's in Gaithersburg is still telling people that Toyota hasn't started making them with solar roofs yet! Have you actually seen one "in the wild"? I haven't seen one with a solar roof yet, although I've seen quite a few Winter Greys, which is strange, since it is the third least popular color according to my poll.

I noticed that the Z2 does give off a better shine that the Z5, although the Z5 is by no means dull. I did my wife's Black Gen II with the Z5, and it did hide a lot of the swirl marks and brought out the shine. Whether there is a difference between the two, judging by my eyes, the finish do look very similar. But then again, a nicely polished black car is hard to compare against.
Sounds like I'm contradicting myself... it must be late.

ooh, that's an easy one ....

303 Aerospace Protectant. I got a first bottle, 8oz. for $4.99 US + tax. Go to their website, search for a local retailer. You will not be disappointed at all using it on black plastic exterior trim. Many other's can attest to this product too.

What other product comes with a detailed tech breifing in the package describing technical details of UV protectant, UV stabilizers and more?

I was just wondering if anyone has recently, or in the past used good 'ole Meguiar's Cleaner Wax?

    Any comments on it?

I have used it for nearly a year on my Spectra Blue Prius. First time I used it I was a little blown away. The shine really popped out and it wasn't too hard to use, just a little white residue / dust from buffing, not much.

Someone else mentioned Meguiar's NXT 2.0 Tech Wax. I had some trouble using that recently. Maybe I applied it a little too thick, but was having to buff too much to get it all off. I'm not planning to use it again. Also, first time I used it, I wasn't that impressed. I thought the cleaner wax did better.

Eventually I'd like to step up to some higher end products, but now is not the time. I'll be sticking with Meg's Cleaner Wax or clay / cleaner wax for now.

cleaner/waxes have fine abrasives to clean the paint. Straight waxes do not. If your car paint does not need any polishing which cleaner/waxes do, you are just prematurely wearing down the paint. You should try S100/P21S carnauba wax instead... You will be pleasantly surprised by the end results...

But by hand any wearing of the paint is extremely slight...if any at all...

I'm starting to have regrets about getting the Winter Grey! No matter how much I wash it and polish it, since I have no garage, within a day or so it looks dirty. Every bit of tree sap, bird doo, pollen, dust, etc. shows up. It's almost as bad as black. Also, since I've bought this car, it's rained about far more frequently than normal, which of course messes it up, too. It's almost like Winter Grey has brought an early winter!

PriusRos - sorry to hear about your issues with the weather and Mother Nature in general. It would be nice if you could send some rain my way (SoCal)... we could definitely use it.
On the suggestion of some other thread on this site, I bought a California Duster to wipe down the car at the end of the day. It's good at removing the light coat of dust that coats on the car throughout the day. I am not sure how dusty or dirty your car gets during the day, but this approach might help. My car still looks as shiny as the day I Zaino-ed it (about a week ago) and the finish is just as smooth.

I wouldn't use a cali duster in that situation...too many opportunities to scratch.

Thats part of having a dark colored car. They look great when clean...but I feel your pain.

I have a California Duster but I just use for the interior. It's much to sticky, poopy, nasty usually to use it on the outside. If it were just dry dust or pollen, that might be different.

For a quick fix, I just wipe it down with Zaino Z-6.

Yeah...I wanted a darker color because it really shows off the shine after polishing...but my silver '06, while it never got very glossy, hardly showed dirt at all!

I guess I'm going to have to order on line. Today I took Graylord out for a nice long run and stopped in a couple of bike places in search of S100 polish. (I think I was a bit of a novelty at these places because I don't quite fit the image of the usual biker chick.) Both of the places had S100 spray cleaner, but neither had the paste wax. the first place said they had some but not right now, and the second place hadn't heard of it. They said that people generally don't wax their bikes -- it's just too much trouble.

    Another question --
Jon S you use S100/P21S interchangeably. P21S costs more than twice as much as S100 on the Autogeek site. I know S100 is supposed to be for bikes. Is there any difference?

S100 is exactly the same wax as P21S. When you compare the two, the containers and contents are exactly the same. Save the money and get the S100...
