I just put in 3.3 quarts (as reccomended by John1701a) and took it for a 1 mile spin. Came back and pulled out the dipstick, cleaned it off, put it back in, and pulled it out. Says my oil level is empty (its just at the bottom dimple). Why does it say this? Do I have to drive around more for the oil to get into the dipstick area? 3.3 quarts of mobile 1 synthetic puralator oil filter.
When checking the engine oil level, make the car IG-OFF on level ground, and wait at least 5 minutes. Also make sure there are no leaks. I believe that 1.7 qt will bring the fluid level up from the bottom to the top dimple. I usually put 3.5 US qt in and this brings the oil level near the top dimple.
