I want to call my office, then enter my voice mail access code. Ideally, I would like to choose when to enter the code rather than have it happen automatically after a pause because the time it takes for the system to answer varies.

Anybody know if this can be done and if so how?

The character " , " is a common 2 second pause. Every phone is unique (this is not a bluetooth thing),but I believe this is pretty much an industry standard - play with the number of them to make your call complete...

...and every phone system is different too. To get to my voicemail requires dialing the number, waiting for pickup, and entering an extension and then a password. As OP said, the time it takes the system to pick up and start doing its thing can vary, and if you take too long too enter the info, you might get kicked off. I experimented to find the right number of commas to insert after each step, so that the timing would always work. What worked for me was the following:

    111-111-1111,,#111,password

OK, I've learned that my phone uses the letter P to pause for one second. PPP pauses for 3 seconds, etc. Now I can't figure out how to enter a P as part of a phone number in the Prius phone book. Any advice?

By the way, the Toyota Bluetooth web site says that I can't transfer phone numbers with special characters from my phone to the Prius bluetooth system. I do not have nav.

This was ALL so much easier in the G II. There was a button you would press for speed tone while on a call. Then it had a few buttons where you would have already stone tones you frequently use and give them a name. you would be allowed to press these buttons to generate the tone, even while the car is moving. Simple and it worked and they managed to get rid of it.

Really now, bring this feature back via a software update is possible Toyota.

Thanks for your suggestion but, unfortunately, it doesn't. In my phone contact list, I can only add a P, W (for wait), # or *.

How did you add the commas to the Prius Phonebook listing?

Most of my numbers in the car were transferred from my iphone, which syncs with my company's ms exchange server. I can effectively enter contacts on my pc, my phone or the car. The iphone has a pause button available when entering new numbers. If you have nav, there are pause and wait buttons available when you are entering a phone number directly (using the car's interface). The manual doesn't say whether commas or pauses are available using the tuning button entry method on the non-nav models.
