I know what your talking about! I was like what is this?! When my front windshield started to fog up - I could clearly see it as if someone drew it in the dew, and such. This is really interesting. I've really wondered. I think mine is a SX though.

 

I could only see suction cup marks early on, and can't even see those now after 13 weeks and many windshield cleanings.

I was looking up through the glass of my sunroof the other day, and noticed a weird circle on it...as if a suction cup like someone else mentioned.
I've noticed it on several occasions since, even after a few car washes.

On many cars, it's common for there to be a line with letters near the top of the windshield that denotes how far down tint may be placed on the windshield, also I have seen markings on windshields that show the proper position for the wipers to park, so you know where to adjust them to.
I looked pretty hard on my Prius and saw no marks at all, usually you see at least markings that show DOT or TUV or something, but I didn't see any, odd.

 

Me too! I have a few of them on my windshield. Can't get them off. Wth

 

I would imagine the circles are from the suction cups on machine that seated the windshield at the factory.

 

I noticed the same sort of thing when I washed my car last. I can't remember what the letters were, though. I checked right now to see if I could see them, but I can't...my windshield is a bit dirty.

The letters were noticable from an angle on the top of the windshield, after water had run across it. And then even after drying...but not once there is surface dust/dirt on it.

 

It's the windshield equivalent of crop circles.

 

I think I'm going to wash my car again today. Will try to get some pictures if the letters are still there.

I've heard that many U.S. Toyota dealers have a process as they prep the cars for new owners. The Service Manager asks the sales rep to describe attributes of the new owner. Then they write it on the windshield with a grease pencil so they can identify the owner. In case they come into the prep area to see their new car, they can be greeted nicely. Then, if the car is finished and the owner does not show, they wipe it off before delivery.
