I just passed 3 months with my new prius :),Got my car jun 11, and ODO says 5001 miles. im about to go on another trip so when i get back next week there will be close to 6000.i kinda feel bad about putting so many miles.i was even thinking of renting a car to go to yosemite tomorrow. At the same time i love driving this car. i love this car and will keep it till it stops going. so its not about resale value. Now i never felt this bad about putting so many miles on other new cars i had before , I hope im not the onlyone who feels like this?

i received my car on jun 29 and it has 3k miles already. I try to track how much I should be driving everyday if I want to keep up with the 15k every year thing.

Regular commuter travels 15,000 miles a year
That's about 41 miles you should be driving each day

I try to not drive it as much because I do my best to keep it clean and save it for those times I have passengers with me.

3 months, and I have nearly 13k on mine. I watched 12k click by and said to myself "so-long bumper to bumper..."

It's not that I feel bad about putting so many miles on the car, it's just that I feel...I do not know.... I would like to get the reverse beep 'fixed', but now i'm pretty sure they would charge me money to do so.... It hasn't annoyed me for 3mo, but that's because the majority of my miles have been forward. It's only now that the annoyance is building. :)

13 weeks and just a shade over 3000 miles, which is a slightly faster pace than the Highlander Hybrid I traded in. I still try to plan/combine trips for maximum efficiency, but sometimes just have to get out for a little ride. :p

Just over 2 months and 6400 miles so far. Let's face it...it does take a bit of mileage for a hybrid to pay for itself...so we're just gettin' to it!:)

4 days, 250 miles (but really good miles!!). Including a midnight trip to the emergency room with hubby on day 1 (don't even ask), and a wonderful ride down 5th Avenue in NYC with the solar roof open on Day 3. The main challenge was to avoid getting smashed by taxicab drivers. (Incidentally, more and more cabs in NYC are now Priuses!)

Does anyone know how long the Prius batter lasts for?? Also what is the normal maintenance for the 2010 Prius? I used to have a camry - so oil changes, timing belts (I know the Prius doesn't have a belt), and tire rotation, change battery every year or so etc...

I'd love to know what is needed, how often and how much?! If anyone could help - I'd really appreciate it!

Don't feel bad... that's why I bought my Prius. I put 30k miles a year on a car just commuting back and forth to work. After only three weeks my gasoline bill dropped by $55/month and I expect the average savings to be $75/month. Add that to the comfort, convenience, and style of the Prius and it's well worth it.

Whatever you did to your Camry, you do to the Prius. Except the brake pads will last a lot longer so that don't have to changed and I'm surprised your battery is going out every year. They usually last 5 years before you have to replace the battery (12V that is)

Oh, come on, it's a vehicle, not a piece of sculpture. I had a couple of long road trips planned for this fall. But since I'm still waiting for my car, one might get cancelled because of no time before the second one, which is fixed in time.

Ya we decided not to rent a so we will be take the Prius on the road trip. we put about 1000 miles on the last trip and will put about the same on this one. This car is really comfortable on the long road trips and fun to drive. I will take it in for the first service next week.

It'd be 5000 miles in 3 months in any other car so just be glad you're saving money on gas in a Prius.

When I traded my 2005 BMW in for the new Prius, it had 31,000 miles on it. That's just under 8,000 miles per year.

I've had the Prius for about a month and I've already got 1,500 miles on it. At this rate I'll have 18,000 miles in the first year!

Can't explain it, but I love driving this thing. My wife and I go out every weekend for a "Mystery Drive". We just point the car in a random direction and see where it takes us. I'm rediscovering Florida and having a great time.

63,000 miles (my lease is up at the end of March, don't worry I had 100% made up my mind that I was purchasing at the end of the lease a month after we got it)

I bought mine July 22, so in 7 weeks, 7200 miles, 50K per year. In two years I'll have no warranty at all. I only get 49-50 MPG because I have trouble going slow enough and do a lot of highway driving (100 commute each day). Do I feel bad? No, I bought a Prius because I have to drive a lot.

I love driving my car! I started planning for at least one day trip every month (that way I don't have to board the dog). I have just under 4,000 in 2 months and I am definitely planning to add more. Sometimes I even go to the Target or whatever that is farther from my house!
