Package V is the only way to get them and they are not offered as a Toyota accessory. Having contacts within Toyota's accessory group, I know that fog lamps are not even under consideration as an accessory.
:welcome: ok...heres an exspensive way...maybe! ok i have a 2007 White Prius Touring fully loaded. ok my neighbor baught the retro fit kit for his wifes 2010 iv prius...and where gonna try to get the fog lights off of my 2007 prius and use the housing that comes with the retro fit ones for the 2010 and see if they fit...if they do he is gonna order some of the fog lights for a gen 2 prius to put fog lights on his wifes prius.... any questions personal message me Thank You
Factory installed foglights are only available on 2010 Prius Package V. They are not offered by Toyota for installation on the other packages - either before the automobile purchase or afterwards. However, all is not lost. Go to the Gen III 2010 Prius Technical Discussion sub-group and look for the thread entitled " Fog Lights: Install [Retrofit] fog lights on 2010 Prius? " This thread is very long, but after reading through the posts you will find complete details on where the foglights and other associated parts can be obtained, as well as instructions (including photos) on how to wire them up and how to mount the lights.
Also try Sigmaauto.com as they have the real fog lights to buy as replacements or to retrofit into a car without them. I think they said they were working on getting the factory switch stalk to install as well, but even if not you could wire in your own switch and relay. A little pricey, but will fit perfect.
You would think Toyota would be listening to peoples' complaints and act on them. Car sales are at an all time low and market share could be increased with companies reacting to the wishes of perspective buyers. Hopefully, Toyota will make the fog lamps an option.
I hope Toyota will offer fog lamps soon. My interest in a company that doesn't react to buyers wishes is quickly fading The Jetta TDI sportwagon is looking very good lately.
These same 'threats' were put out months ago when people found out the fog lamps were only available on the Prius V. Toyota still is not offering them as an availability or optional accessory for the II-IV. Toyota knows peoples feelings on this but popping in every so often to rehash it isn't going to change anything. If fog lamps matter that much to some people, which they very well could, and Toyota is not offering them on the vehicle you are considering by all means go look at another manufacturer. Did it bother me I couldn't get the solar roof on my V? Yes, but it's a case of 'crap' or get off the pot. We all voiced our opinions on the subject, Toyota listened, and in the end a decision still had to be made by many of us. I think you're in the same vote. And if you are not ready for a new vehicle now, maybe down the road Toyota will change their minds but it still comes down to the same thing. They have heard all this before and it has been taken into consideration. Bringing it up every moth or two and 'threatening' them that you will buy a VW really isn't going to make them change their minds any faster...
I have no intention of threatening Toyota in any way regarding the absence of foglights on all but package V, although I do have to wonder why they installed those cheap looking dummy covers over the place where the foglamps would normally go. It makes a potentially great looking vehicle seem less so. In my opinion they should have included foglights on ALL of the 2010 Prius models. I am not a huge fan of foglights, but I will be installing some after-market units in there as soon as my parts arrive. Then the chintzy dummy covers will be gone, and something nice looking will replace them.
I've waded through the other thread on fog lights and it's too confusing. I'm not interested in doing it myself. I am prepared to go a dealer, spend several hundred bucks, and get fog lights installed. However, I'm afraid to even call any dealers because it seems like with any questions associated with the 2010 Priius, all one gets are a bunch of lies/misinformation because they really don't know. So, my question is, has anybody actually had fog lights installed on their non-V Prius? Which ones were used? How much did it cost? Where does the on/off switch go? Really, my main interest in installing the fog lights is to get rid of the ugly-a$$ed rubber-hose-nozzle covers. They look like part of a sprinkler system or something. I didn't have fog lights on my previous Prius and I didn't miss them, even though I had had them on the car before. I'd even install fake lights if it could be done cheaply and easily and they blended in okay. But if I'm going to spend some money, I'd want them to work.
I hate the plastic covers--they look worse than ridiculous. I don't feel a need for fog lights. I've wondered whether white reflectors could be installed there as an inexpensive solution.
In one of the threads, someone removed the ugly inserts and spray painted them with that Krylon Fusion gloss black (They did gloss black since they had a black car) and it didn't look too bad, better than the stock matte gray.
Hi PriusRos: That posting is definitely very lengthy. The only person who has gone the route of OEM completely with Toyota is Casumik. I followed what he did and though costly compared to Hawkmoon77 and others attempts he is completely happy with what he had done by his local Toyota Dealer. My suggestion is to go through that thread again and take note of only his posts and this might give you what you are looking for. He also shows what parts he got and the cost he paid which will give you everything outside labour. If my memory serves me correctly it will take roughly 3 hours to do this as per the mechanic that did it for him - now that he knows how/what to do. For me I might do this next spring - just found out that I have to get Winter Tires and Steel Rims as the ones I had from my previous vehicle (Mazda 3) will not fit.....darn!! That takes priority for the moment. All the best.....
Not to take away from Casumik, but Hawkmoon77 has posted a set of VERY detailed documents detailing exactly how he did it. His posts are very well written, includes lots of photos, and is easy to follow. His method is as near to OEM as you can get, including the left stalk assembly with foglamp switch
I'm reading it really isn't the fog lights as much as the grey inserts look ugly. Paint them the body color and at least they will blend in.
Look through that other thread again. Hawkmoon77, for example, has actually done a foglamp installation on his non-V Prius, and he lists all of the parts required (including prices) as well as how he did it. Others posting to that thread have done the same.
I'm personally thinking that this will be like the iPhone. Ok the first one came out people rushed for it. And then a year went by and they brought a new one with more opptions. So maybe when a year goes by the LEDs and fogs lights might be acalible on the prius iv.
Hi All, Cdn AT Package which doesn't come with fogs. Had dealer install after delivery. All Toyota parts and warranty but not wired per factory, toggle switch to four position block by left drivers knee. $1250 Cdn installed. Works like factory installed except will also work with high beams. Regards
