Anyone have alarms of nearby cars go off while walking by them having the keyless FOB in pocket?

We'd just left a restaurant and were walking back to our '10 Prius. As we neared, an alarm of the car two stalls from us went off...without any apparent noise or vibration from us or anything else around. We took a step back, thinking we didn't want anyone thinking we'd done it. My wife then tells me that three cars in her work lot went off earlier that day, as she simply walked by.

Anyone have this happen to them?

Those cars are just trying to get your attention and wanting to be a Prius.

We need to know what cars alarmed. It will lead to fun at dealers of those cars.:D

Funny, when I read this post, I'm thinking no way - crazy coincidence - but the other day I was in a parkiing lot, and the car 2 down froom me had its alarm go off - no one was near (?????) - but I was near my c ar when this happened (????)

Could there be something here?????? It makes little sense.....

It seems very unlikely. Mind you, not impossible, but very unlikely.

It's possible. When I drove a limo, sometimes when I would send the dispatcher a message using the companies computer, a car parked near me would have the alarm go off. So, it is possible.

Yes - I agree - but then again, the key fob when turned on likely sends more information... I know I did see this happen once during my first week of ownership....... Strangenesss....

Now that you mention it, the alarm on a van parked two spots away went off the other day when we got out of the Prius. No one else was around. Seems strange the SKS would send a signal that far away though.

This happened to me just yesterday. My daughter protested, "I didn't touch it!" Maybe it was me.

Happened to me a couple of days ago. Clicked the lock button on my clicker and a Suburban a few spaces away started beeping. Obviously a frequency thing.

Car alarm only goes off when intrusion occurred only not when there is RFI from another key FOB. Remember the alarm has to be programmed to accept a remote with a particular ID number.

    That's weird.
We don't have SKS - just a regular fob.
However, when we parked the other day, and I clicked the fob to lock the car, another car across from us blinked its taillights - and no one was around it.

edit: it wasn't a toyota, either. It was a chevy, I think.
