OK, enough commentary about the console. Lets get some statistics.

Which statement do you MOST AGREE with? Only one choice - check the one closest to your feelings.

Statements with + indicate you generally feel POSITIVE about it.

Statements with - indicate you generally feel NEGATIVE about it.

This poll (of course) is open to '10 owners, prospective owners, and those who may not purchase at all. So this will not be scientific in any way.
And please - no heat about the structure of the poll. Poll development features are very limited.

I like the console; it has a sporty look to it. However, the lack of cupholders and the placement of the heated seat switch is ridiculous.

An odd poll, but I'll vote for "+"

I certainly could go for more cupholders.

I also wonder how many of those who don't like the center stack came from cars with column shifters. I've been driving a stickshift since 1988 and there's always been something between me and the passenger seat. Sure this is a little bigger than your average shifter but it's no big deal. I actually find the "gearshift" (a misnomer to be sure, no?) in the perfect location.

    Dean,

I like the idea of ending the long, drawn out discussion on the pros and cons of the console. Still, I'm chuckling a bit at this poll -- because I just can't find a close enough descriptor for my vote!:p

I would have preferred no console, but I'm becoming accustomed to it. My biggest gripe is placement of the gear thingy (c'mon, it isn't really a gear shift, is it?) where cupholders would have better served. Still, I like the easier access to some buttons I really use, and I like the fact the Nav screen is lower and the climate control buttons are more accessible than on the MFD screen.

Of course -- it was nice having some of those buttons on the steering wheel in the earlier GenII!!!

A man designed it- there is a lot less room underneath to put a FEMALE purse...

No opinion. It is what it is. I haven't found anything I hate or love about it.

I TOTALLY miss driving a stick shift, but I don't like the console at all (except that the "purse seat" really does seem to work well for my purse).

I never noticed that purses have male and female gender. Where are the private parts?
Try a male gender hand bag and let us know how that goes.
I suspect a male purse would be smaller at the hips while wider across the shoulders and able to carry heavier loads. However a small injury to the purse would render it totally useless.

Some of my purses fit under there. I like that space for tossing in glasses, books. I do miss that under console drawer from my Gen II but I do find that offset by the handy placement of AC, Nav and "gear thingy". This "gear thingy is getting silly!!!
The cup holder inside the console is pretty much useless.....

Thanks for making this poll. It's an important issue. I don't recall another car that has a center console much like the '10 Prius.

Having come from a mini-van...everything about this car is something new and different, and I have to get used to it all. I don't find any problems with having the console. I've found both cup holders to work just fine, and my purse fits on the little shelf if I lay it down...which is no big deal because I never have to get my phone because of the built in bluetooth! I've been on a 9 hour (each way) trip, with a drink in each cup holder, and I could still use the arm rest and drive comfortably. (not sure why people don't like the cup holders...)

I only have one wish - that there was one of those little LED lights for the storage area - it would help me find the bum warmer, my glasses and whatever else is there that I'm feeling around for in the dark. With all the other little lights inside the car, that's one area that really needs one!!

I know this poll doesn't have votes from everyone on PriusChat, but the turnout is pretty good. And I find it pretty revealing that nearly two-thirds of those who've voted either like "much" or "everything" about the center console.

I can live with it, have no choice actually. But I would rather have one that is a bit more functional, i.e. more storage and better cup holders.

Right now my biggest complaint is the rattle in the storage compartment lid. I have been working on trying to find it and fix it. I'm getting close but I have to go the the craft store and get some dark gray sticky back felt to keep the lid from hitting the plastic pieces. It's OK when it is partly open to reveal the second cup holder but when I close it completely it rattles on all but the smoothest roads.

I don't think this is an unusual problem on new cars with a lot of plastic in the interior, which would be most of them I guess. Noticed another rattle yesterday coming from the back seat somewhere, I'll have to get a friend to drive while I look for that one, or learn how to enjoy loud music.

They make little 3 led stick on lights (push on / push off) that you could mount on the bottom of the console. Granted you'd have to manually turn it on and off.
I use one above my keyboard if i'm on the puter at night with no lights on. Works great for that.
about $6 at home depot and uses 3 AAA batterys.

As a cup holder, perhaps...but I use it to hold my oft needed items like my floss picks (in a small bag), my phone headset (no bluetooth yet :p), and a couple emergency $s.

I also raise guide dog puppies and the passenger door "water bottle holder" is great to hold a leash and the dog's working vest :D My current dog is heading back for training in a few weeks. It will be interesting (amusing???) to see what the next new tiny puppy thinks of the convenient "crawl through" provided by Toyota :bounce:

I do think the "main" cupholder isn't quite deep enough as I've already bumped my 16oz tea mug out of it :-( I guess it's all in one's perspective...

What, if anything, do you all put underneath that "bridge" where the 12v outlet is? I tried to put my purse in there but it wouldn't fit. I then put my GPS mount down there but thought better of it and now the mount is placed in the cup holder on the driver's side door (much better spot for it). It's just empty space just waiting to be used. I guess I could put my umbrella there since it won't fit in the upper glove compartment.

My purse fits down there when I lay it on it's side. I also have my garage door opener down there. (My garage door doesn't have homelink :( )

The only thing I don't like about the new layout is that you don't get the backup camera unless you get nav, which is a big loss IMO. I suppose they could fix that with a different display technology in the small MFD. Otherwise I welcome the use of real buttons and knobs for functions that were formerly controlled by the touch screen. Maybe less "futuristic" but much more practical in a moving vehicle.
