My drivers side windshield washer is not working/spraying. The passengers side works fine. I thought it maybe due to a loose connection but I am not able to get through the insulation that cover the underside of the hood (without tearing it). I am not able to pull the plastic plugs out either. Any suggestions? I have been looking for a new/used insulation and plugs but I am not sure what their real name is so I am having difficulty searching.
if you can't find a sewing pin for the nozzles a lot of times a few brushes with a clean toothbrush will do the trick.
Get a compressed air canister the type you would use to clean a computer. With the nozzle put it up against the non working unit, spray it in so the air will hopefully clear what ever is blocking the washer nozzle.
Check that the hose going to it is not pinched. You can pull the hose off the nozzle under the hood, and see if the fluid squirts out there.
I am not able to get to the hose that is connected do the hood. There is a barrier (not sure what it is called or what type of material) between the engine and the underside of the hood. The material is held to the hood by round plastic screws. I have not found a way to remove them without tearing the barrier or breaking the screens. Suggestions?
Here's what little help I can give: The piece under the hood is caller the "Insulator" and it goes for ~$157, the plastic screws, "Insulator Clips," for it go for $0.83 apeice at this parts supplier: Wholesale Toyota Parts I guess the smart thing to do would be to cut/abrade the heads off the clips to remove the Insulator. Someone with access/a subscription to the Prius Collision Damage, Body Repair Manual will have to see what it says about removal/ replacement. Should you want info on the parts of the washer/wiper system, you have to push down through the levels under "windshield" in the list on the left of the page. The nozzles go for ~$18.
