Well folks, we're at the end of an era. Less than 100 2nd-Gen Prius are left in the entire US. Get 'em while they last! (Feel free to get one just as a collector's item. I know you all have extra cash burning a hole in your pocket. ) Doug Coleman Prius Product Manager Toyota Motor Sales, USA
Haha, lol, yes. If there were only 100 Gen IIs left total, well then I think people might rightly suspect Toyota's quality! (And I'm sure I wouldn't be in this job anymore!) Doug Coleman Prius Product Manager Toyota Motor Sales, USA
Thanks...was just clarifying that the "less than 100" number you were quoting referred to "never purchased" Gen II's left on the lots.
Amazing! Now you will start a feeding frenzy on the ones that are left and the price will shoot up to $50K. ound: You're doing a great job, Prius Team! I think it would be very rewarding to be part of a group that is selling such an innovative and fun product. If you're accepting resumes, maybe I could put the marketing side of my Masters in Management to work! Or give me three years and the PhD will be finished. It's either that or I'll retire... - That's the way it is with us "late in life academics." Keep up the GREAT WORK! And thanks for keeping us informed!
I've already been seeing Gen III Prii on the road in San Jose. So presumably lots of people are opting for the new one (or can't find a Gen II...)
I love my 2009. I am glad I was able to snag one of the few white ones that were available in my area at the time I bought it.
It saddens me to read this, but enlightens me to know that Prius and Toyota are about to set yet another milestone! This will definately not be the last hurrah.
yeah, i'm happy that i bought a 2006 gen II. it has saved me a lot of gas in the three years that i've owned it. i convinced my mom to buy a 2010 prius, so one more for toyota!
Wow! What a milestone! I've seen at least 10 gen IIIs running around the South Bay myself. FWIW, the parents of a friend of mine recently took advantage of C4C and ditched their old, failing (early 90s?) Infiniti Q45 and got a 2010 Prius! :thumb: That's the way it should be! +1 Thanks for keeping us in the loop!
Go guys, the Prius team should be congratulated for doing a fantastic job of marketing an awesome motor car, and everyone involved in the development and production also has reason to feel extremely proud. The Gen II Prius is a class act which in my opinion is the second best car on the market, second only to the Gen III Prius. Get um while they are there people, this might be your last chance to screw down a dealer on a superseded model new Prius! Hopefully Prius Team enjoyed my super suck up! They are the best!
Prius Team You've bee a great source of ACCURATE Gen III information. Don't know how you got Toyota to let you be our beacon, but Thanks for all the news that helped me make my decision. I love my new Prius. Now that we're down to a precious few Gen II's, exactly how many (worldwide) Gen I and Gen II's were built?
I am not up to date but have the Gen III prius seats improve? Because Gen II's were pretty uncomfortable...
