    Hiya All

I've ordered my 2010 Prius and I'm trying to get a good price for my current 2006 Prius. Any ideas of how to get the best price?

2006 (06) T-SPIRIT, 31,000 miles, excellent condition, with front parking sensors and rear parking camera/assist.

My stealer has offered me £9,750

I currently have it in Auto Trader for £10,499, but not a nibble? Am I doing something wrong?

Don't suppose I could interest anyone? Heheheheh!

I think you'll be lucky to get £250 over the trade-in on a private sale. I've just hopefully sold my previous motor and only got about the same above a trade in offer. The scrappage scheme is having very odd effects on the 2nd hand market. People want real value if they're not buying off a dealer.

Also, the value of G2's will fall once the G3's get more common. I've still only seen my own G3 in London yet. It's funny watching people look at it from my flat window - "ooh look, its a new Prius" etc etc. Come 1st Sept I'm sure there will be many more.

    Parker's prices:

    Original Price £20,260
    Franchised Dealer £10,905
    Independent Dealer £10,490
    Private Good £9,770
    Private Poor £8,085
    Part Exchange £8,535

    Prices estimated for 30,000 miles.

    I'd take the dealer's offer.

    Hiya Wooski

Thanks for that! So I'll probably just be better off giving it to the dealer and being done with it? I only bought it about 18 months ago for £14,800 - how much of a mug am I?

As for those London Prius people - I'll be joining the merry little band in the first two weeks of Sept! Can't wait!

Got a great deal out of it from work - A T-Spirit free met paint & Matts all for the fantastic price of £19,100 - I suppose I shouldn't really complain!! :D

    Thanks for that Mike

The price has REALLY plunged! I think the dealer will be my best bet - I've got to the end of the month to let them know, they are being very good to me!

Have you got your new Prius yet?

Mine's a 57 plate, and I tend to buy second-hand anyway (this was an ex-demonstrator). While the new car is an improvement, I don't think it's a sufficient improvement to trade this car in early. I did joke about trading it in so someone else could get the benefit of my current Prius!

I'm waiting to find out more information about the upcoming Auris hybrid. One of my complaints about the Prius (both old and new) was that it was too large: the interior space is great but it can be harder to find a big enough parking space!

Seems a bit tight to me... We just traded my '07 T-spirit company prius with 53,000 on the clock for £10K against a new Gen III. AND managed to get the LED tech pack added at the last minute - was due for delivery 1/9/09, but has only been delayed 'til the end of October.

I got £10,200 for my 56 reg TSpirit when trading in on a new Gen 3. Had 22,000 miles on it, but needed two new front tyres, service & MOT.

Mind you it's now sitting on the dealer parking lot with a price tag of £12,499
