Did a search of this forum and read the owner's manual and could not figure out what these settings do under SETUP --> VOICE.

'Voice Guidance in All Modes', 'Voice Guidance Recognition' and 'Automatic Recognition'

Can anyone just give a brief but better description of what these settings do?

I have to admit that I just don't know what the owner's manual is describing when talking about these settings. I also have not been able to correlate any actual function that 've used that would help me find out (although I haven't completely used all features of the system yet as I have not had the car very long so far).

Hoping that these questions have not already been asked and answered and thanks in advance.

I see you've read the manual, but I'll note for everyone's benefit that these voice settings are described on pages 243 -244 of the nav manual. I could make educated guesses, but since I haven't tested any of these settings, I think I'll just keep my mouth shut.

    Voice Guidance in All Modes
The way I understand it, is that when it's on, voice guidance will be given even if the nav screen isn't selected (e.g. if you have the AUDIO screen showing b/c you want to see the song titles and stuff. This option will tell the nav to continue giving voice instructions

    Voice Recognition Guidance
This option turns on/off the guidance when you use VR. It guides you through the VR process. Once you get familiar with the menus and the VR system, you can turn it off. An example of the VR Guidance would be when you first press the VOICE button and the lady says "After the beep, please say a command such as "Go Home", "Destination", "Phone", "Audio" or "Command List"". If you only remember parts of the menu and still need guidance in some menus but don't want to listen to the lady list the options in menus that you are familiar with, simply press the VOICE button to "cut her off". You don't have to wait til she finishes talking before you give a command.

    Automatic Guidance
This option turns on/off the automatic route guidance commands. If this is switched on, the nav will give spoken instructions when the next turn is coming up. If this option is switched off, then it'll only give voice instructions when you press the MAP/VOICE button on the right hand column of buttons, next to the nav screen.

Thanks for your excellent explanation of these particular functions. I wish your explanations were in the manual. I just could not figure out what these funstions are by their one sentence description with no examples. Thanks again.
