Picked my Prius up on Friday and during the drive home, the blurry A/C screen was bugging me so bad that I pulled over to remove the plastic film. Like another poster stated, it sorta looks like condensation behind the plexiglass display. Needless to say, there wasn't a protective plastic film over the plexiglass display. Driving me nuts!!!! I also have the Plasmacluster display as I have a Prius V.
Today is Sunday and I doubt that they are open. I will call them first thing in the morning and open up a case. Scott
I took delivery of my Prius today. On my way home I noticed that the screens was blurry. I thought the dealer didnt cleaned properly, like when they were taking of the protective plastic the sticky part remained on the screen. It looks like inside the screen is fogged like foggy headlight on old vehicles. This shouldnt be on a 1 day old car . Now that I have read this thread I will check tomorrow again and then call the number. Matt
Just 'tuned in' to the fact that you are discussing the A/C screen rather than the Nav screen that I opted not to get (have it on my 06 HiHy and seldom use it). Sorry that many of us are having this problem BUT glad to know that it is not just MY crummy sight (glaucoma w/ some interior left eye vision loss); I figured that not being able to see data clearly on this screen was my problem. Even worse is trying to see the outside temp numbers when in triple digit degrees as they reduce in size to fit within the same space, I assume. I will call in my complaint tomorrow!!!
Count me in as another blurry one....noticed it right away when I was driving off the lot...thought it was a film too and thought it was weird they looked different...not a huge deal, but it is hard to read...
OK I just went out to check my screen after reading all these posts and yes, it's blurry! However I noticed that when I looked at it from the passenger seat angle, it was clear. So there must be something with the anti-glare plastic that is creating this effect. You would think that they would make the screen clear for the driver!
Interesting observation. I am going to go out and sit in the passenger seat and view the screen as well. I have yet to try that.
Mine is blurry from both sides. It doesn't bother me quite as much since there isn't a clear display just above it for comparison (ours has nav). As a side note we sat in several others on the lot when we picked up the car and they all had the blurry display.
Mine is blurry too. I picked at the screen edges but there is nothing there. I think it might be a film on the inside of the component. Since some don't have the problem that could be it. I can live with it, but it's annoying. Is anyone getting an onfocused display on the spedometer? The spedometer display is a reflected image and I'm getting a double image like it is unfocused.
I have the same problem. I have included a couple of pictures, one of the AC screen and the second of my dash. The camera was able to discern the temperature better them me. The camera was taken at an angle as would be seen by a driver. The dash display shows my MPG and average speed, which I don't understand.
It is telling you average speed....It is funny in the manual it has a shot of this and the average speed is 124mph...yeah right...
It is difficult for me to think that over 376 miles my average speed was 21 MPH. I did take several short trips at highway speeds of 55 MPH. I'll keep a watch on this as I take a longer trip down to the DC area.
WOW my dealer just called and Toyota had called him and told them to replace the climate control screen They want the unit to look it over. Dealer is gonna order new screen unit right away and change it out. I told him i bet a new display unit doesn't help and that Toyota will have to make some changes to correct it. He said that might be very true, but they need the bluury unit to check it out. Anyone that's hasn't complained that has a fuzzy/blurry screen on the climate contol better jump on letting Toyota know about it.
Another blurry screen here. Sounds like pretty much all of us have it. I love the car, but I don't understand how this could make it through their quality control. They had to have known about it. This is an incredibly lame move by Toyota to let such a small issue do so much damage to their reputation, especially on their model that is supposed to be a showcase of advanced technology. And why didn't they go with LED displays in the first place?
Can someone please repost the toll free number to Toyota? I would search but I am away from my laptop only with an iPhone available. It would be painful to try to lacate it on this.
Has anyone else noticed that the screen can be blurry in some sun angles but absolutely clear in others? When the sun is overhead and the screen itself has sun on it from above, mine is absolutely clear. Other angles, it can be more difficult to see but I can still make out the digits well. Sunglasses (non-polarized) make it more difficult. I had another car that had a similar display but a very clear and shiny screen, however you could not see that one in daylight--all you could see was the reflection of the right seatback (beige on that car) glaring back at you because of the screen angle.
