Good read, thanks. I'd agree the Prius belongs...

Agree. But why post this in the Gen III forum instead of Prius and Hybrid News?

Frankly, I have to agree with Forbes overall assessment.

From a pure mechanical drivetrain perspective I believe that the Prius is completely unique among automobiles. With a gas engine and two motor-generators coupled through a simple planetary gear system - it is simply unique. The engineers at Toyota deserve a Nobel Peace Prize for that engineering design.

Well, I guess because this is the only forum I read. I was hardly even aware of the other forums.

Just looked at Forbes' Best Cars for the Money. Chevy Malibu is the best Hybrid for the money and the Tahoe is the best Hybrid SUV....GM didn't pay em off or anything right?:mad:

C'mon. Who wouldn't want to pay a $5,000 premium for an extra 2 mpg? :D

That is pathtic. According to edmunds.com "
The word "hybrid" may elicit environmental warm fuzzies, but the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid provides negligible "hybrid" benefits. It may cost a little less than other hybrid sedans, but you get a lot less in terms of fuel economy and performance." (2009 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid Review and Specs). When you consider that this car is lested, per Edmunds, at $25,555 before adding ANY options, this is hardly considered to be the 'best hybrid for the money'

How is that possible when it is more money, and less of a fuel miser (hybrid) than the prius, or even the insight, to be fair? This magazine shows it's true colors.

Each of the cars is illustrated with a photo of its first year out - except they show a Gen 3 Prius.

Except one cannot buy a Malibu hybrid .... GM is dumping the car IIRC. Guess it had a couple problems.

Don't think I've seen one singular Malibubu hybrid one the road. :D
