I must say that I am extremely disappointed with the contents of the package.

I was under the assumption that the kit would be more Prius specific (since I ordered it from the PC store).
The switch and the mounting hardware is generic. I have not checked the fit of the lights to the bumper blanks yet but I bet they are not the right size.

Just a heads up to anyone else planning to buy the fog lamp kit.

I will try to salvage something of the kit, Maybe I can make something work. I'll post with updates.

Thanks for the heads up - I was planning to order the same kit - any pics of the packaging, hardware, lights would be very helpful. I might as well go to Advance auto parts if they're the wrong size.

OK, So I have some pictures and I took the blank out to get a better view of the fit.
I am beginning to wonder if maybe they shipped the wrong lights to me.
The lights look smaller than the ones in the picture on priuschat shop.

Here is a view of the kit and the bumper blank. (sorry there are so many pictures)

Do they expect you to use a dremel and cut out just the dimpled circle in the knockout and mount the light into that and then reinsert the knockout?

Thanks for very helpful pics. I ordered the same set and took them to an installer who thought perhaps they were Prius II. Either way, this isn't much use as a lighting set on its own. Your pics -- and the one of the blank hole beneath the cover -- makes clear we need some kind of body molding to accommodate the lights.
Conclusion: Shame on Toyota! We have a deficiency of design and as yet no easy means to remedy. I guess I'll try to sell my Blinglights on Ebay and start over later.

I'm not sure how we are supposed to mount them. but if you look at the picture below, you will notice that the lights look professional. also It looks like the lights are bigger as there is no gap at the top of the blank as there would be with the lights I received.
Also the part number on the PC store is BL-1038W as opposed to the ones I received which are NV-1038-WK.

PriusChat Shop : 2010 Toyota Prius Xenon Fog Lights Driving Lamps Kit [BL-1038w] - $88.99

    The PC sore also states:
"This product includes everything needed to install and requires no other parts or extensive modification."

One possibility is that maybe the housing is available from Toyota and these lights can be mounted easily within that.

Maybe you got a Gen II one by accident. The Gen II ones are a tad smaller.

Yes - I think that's exactly what we're going to have to do to make these work. Precision cut a hole in the existing knockout location to fit the Bling light fixture and hope for the best.

Looks like a generic $88 foglight kit and other than somewhat sized to roughly fit, isn't very specific to the Prius. I think I'll hold off for some more options to come along. Right now we have the $88 kit and the $300+ kit as bookends (oh, and the buy-parts-from-Toyota route). Maybe there will be a middle ground soon.

Anyone know what spare knockouts cost in case I attempt this and screw the part up??

any comments or tips on removing the bumper blanks? was it a simple removal?

no need to apologize for the pictures; the more the merrier.

There are two push clips and a 10mm bolt that I removed from the aero dynamics plastic directly behind the bumper and the blank.
the tabs are close to the wheel while the bolt is un-painted and bolts into the bumper itself.

Once you have the black aero plastic loose you can pull it back towaards teh wheel far enough to put your head between the plastic shielding and the bumper. you will see one bolt that needs to be removed (10mm socket).
once that is removed, just push the tabs that are connected to the bumper and pull the blank towards the tire.

You will notice that the wiring harness is attached to 3 points on the blank.
these can be removed once you have access to the front portion of the blank.
Just pinch the clips from the front.

Can't they be returned if you are not satisfied?

Great pictures; you've answered everyone's questions about how to remove and what's behind the fog light blanks.

    Thanks,

Surely not? The knockouts face outwards instead of straight ahead. The Prius V must have two body moldings to fit the space behind the knockout. Can't we expect these to be available from Toyota parts departments before long?

I believe the housing is part number 81482-47020 for the left and 81481-47020 for the right. They are ~$50 each from my local dealership.
By the way, should you mess up the blanks, they are about $5 cheaper than getting the V housing.

I have not gotten my hands on them yet so can't be sure they will work with the BL kit I bought.
I would love it if someone measured the size of the V Lights to see if they are even close.

If you want functional fog lights then you would need to get the correct housing. If you were to use the blanks and cut them out to fit fog lights then your lights would face out at an angle.
Those blanks do not face exactly forward.

I have not installed my kit yet as I am waiting to get the OEM housing to see if I can get the BlingLights I bought to fit in there.
