It was worth it to me. I got a nasty scrape across the left corner resulting in damage to the film but not to the bumper.

I hope to put on the 3M protector, which is offered locally, but to do it properly, the installer wants around 800.00, which I feel is a bit high....not sure what to do?

I received a quote of $400 and about 4 hours for just the front bumper. --TK

Good price, I was quoted $750 here for ventureshield and that did not include the full hood, just the bottom couple of feet. Another shop quote almost $900!

If Moscow, ID not to far from you I can give the place and number to call. He said probably take 3 hrs...might be worth a road trip.

Great, If yours comes out good let me know I may be interested. I'm in Hermiston so Moscow is about 150 miles or so. No problem if I don't get rock thrown up at me on the way. Lets see that would be about 3 gal of regular each way.

Personally I don't think applying to the front bumper is needed. On my older cars, stones from the road will chip the paint off the hood (because of its hard surface). But on the bumper, stones will simply bounce off and no paint will be chipped.

I love the 3m clear shield on my current car (bumper + fender + headlights ) and would love to have it on the new Prius.

After reading many posts in this forum, I am going to order the 2010 Prius with technology package. Does anyone know the cost for installation by the dealer int the Toronto area?

I went to test drive the car today and the salesmen seems reluctant to move on the MRSP because the car is in high demand.

    Hi:

Congrat on the 'Technology' Prius - great choice and very envious (would have loved to have the Technology Pkg)! I am looking forward to picking up my 2010 Toyota Prius and Premium Package with Solar Panels come September 01. I started this thread and I am still hunting around for a company to do the Paint Protection in Newfoundland

Don't remember how close Oakville or Kitchner, Ontario is in relation to Toronto, but here is a couple of links to a company that might be of help:

Touch of Tint | Automotive Tintin | Mobile Services

    http://www.nochip.com/index.html

As regards to the MSRP - mine was the same. I had to actually go out of province and get one in New Brunswick and have it re-routed to Newfoundland. The only thing they would do for me is allow me to make the downpayment on the lease via my Credit Card without charging me 1 or 2% for using it versus cash or debit. At least I earned some Airmiles out of it - enough to get a free airplane ticket anywhere in Atlantic Canada. If I had found one closer to home I probably would have got a 'care package' which is usually a set of winter mats and a couple of other things. If you waited till next year that MSRP would probably be a bit more negotiable.

When you get it done let us know how it turns out and post some pics!!

    Take care.....

If you want to save some money off the MSRP I recommend you join the APA of Toronto, with a $65 membership and their buying service, I did very well on my new Prius.

I bought a silver III yesterday with nav and several add-ons including the paint protector (it came with the car...I didn't order it). While I love the concept I don't like the execution, as the line where the hood protection ends becomes visible as the car collects dust and dirt. Obviously this wouldn't be as much of a problem on gray or black paint, but it's definitley a problem on the silver. There is also one spot on the edge line where dirt has gotten under the film, and it as a result there is a permanent (albeit small...but of course I notice it) dirt speck on the hood.

On the plus side I got a great deal on the car so I can't really complain. But given the choice I wouldn't order the paint protector as an option. (I also question how well it's going to age over time.)

I installed a clear bar about 2007 after my 2006 Prius was getting hit from the stones. I will say it is a lot like installing wall paper, keep it very wet and you should be fine. The product I used started off a little cloudy but when the sun hit it it was clear, it is still looks good on the car today!...:thumb:

Finally got around to asking my dealer who installed my "invisible bra". He wouldn't reveal who it was (as expected). If you ever take a road trip to Ontario, I can give you my salesman's contact if you are interested in getting what I have.

    Update:

The brand of the paint protector is 3M. Found out while I got my first oil change today (3000km's came pretty quickly). My dealer started selling a "Valley Edition" Prius which includes "3M Hood Tape".

Hey, thanks for the tip! Glad to hear the film has held up on your car. I finally received my clear bra kit last week and have been working up the courage to put it on. If I can get all the bugs I collected on my roadtrip off the car, and the weather agrees with me, I'm going to give it a go tomorrow. :)

Interested in hearing a few more people experiences, I got a quote locally for $800 installed.... I'm thinking about ordering it and trying it myself, where did you buy yours, off ebay?

I've got the clear bra by Venture Shield put on mine for $400 and that includes the FULL hood in a wrap style. The rest (grill/valance/bumper) was all lazer cut. NO way after watching it being installed would i want to try anything but the hood. Way to many bends and curves. It looks great as in you can't see it except for one edge on the little flat spot where the bottom of the head lights are and the top edge of the grill next to the hood. But you really have to look hard to see it.
If it stops raining long enough for me to wash the car i'll take some pics and post them.

since i am one of the few DIY'ers that have done this on a 2010 model, i want to remind everyone that this install takes time and patience. for a full frontal job like mine, plan on at least a half day.
