You don't have comprehensive coverage? Insurance will pay for it, minus deductible, if you have coverage. And it is best to have a professional go over the damage because there may be other issues than just a couple of bolt on pieces. Structural components may be damaged, headlight assembley chipped, etc...............not to mention, getting the paint to match properly.
with $500.00 deductable, and a 2,700.00 estimate on repair, I would like to try it myself. The bumper cover may be able to be pushed back out or could be replaced. The headlight is intact with no damage. The hood has a small dent that can easily be removed and the only thing with major, what I would call unfixable damage is the passenger side front fender. No other damage is noted and I think the price I have been given is unreasonable so I want to replace the fender myself. I just was hoping someone would have a suggestion on where the parts used or new could be purchased online..... jf
You have the facilities to paint the fender and bumper and get a match? I hit a deer last month and took out the right fender and headlight and the damage ended up costing my insurance company 3500. I gladly paid the $500 deductible.
Maaco will paint the fender for 40 bucks. It was not a serious hit and the deer was not killed. I am not trying to make a big case out of this thing but 2700.00 is just another attempt at my dealer trying to get into my pockets. The insurance inspector found no major damage but the dealer wants to replace everything new. I guess I'll just shop around for the best deals online. i just was hoping someone here might know of where I might find used body parts and I might actually find one already painted.... jf
I dont know if its the same with your insurance company but with mine if hit by an animal its a $250 deductible instead of the $500 for other collisions.
It seems reasonable that I can fix it for under 500, depending on a few factors. Cost of fender, used and already white, or new with Maaco paint, and the appearance of the bumper cover after the two dents are pushed out. I will just live with the small dent in the hood. I have had a clear bra on it since it was new. It might be time for a black leather one. The insurance check will go to the finance company.... jf
Our ins. is with 21st Century, but I am going to investigate others and ask more questions. I was not happy that it took 2 days for their inspector to look at the car. Can you recommend your company?....jf
Pay the $500 unless you are high risk and your rates will go up. BTW the deer hit your wife and then it is comprehensive and not collision. I think! Was it a "Doe, a Deer, a female deer",? Like in the song!

try Olathe toyota parts or there are fenders on ebay for around forty $ I rebuilt a 2005 and replaced front fenders. Learn how to remove plastic clips and take notice of a peculiar clip on the very upper part of fender near windshied difficut to find.
I spent most of the morning with a long crowbar and a rubber hammer. Results are a near perfect looking front end. Small spot where there was a crease that will need touch up paint and it will require a couple of those black plastic pieces that hold the bumper cover clipped down. I will need to drill a small hole in the back side of the hood to push out the small dent there, and finish up with a black leather bra. Even without the bra, it's a good 20 footer. Can't tell it's had a problem from a distance. I am very happy with zero dollars spent. Not perfect, but then what is in these times.... jf
I had this with Allstate 3 weeks ago. $2479 repair, I paid $50 deductible. Allstate does not raise rates for animal hits.
Pics are coming. Sorry to not have them for you by now but at the same time as this happens, the other car (A classic 900 Saab Convertable) decides to have the alternator go up in smoke. Waking hours are a bit full now. The Prius is on the road again but looks like crap. I'll post pics .... hopefully tomorrow.... Are there any recommendations on where to purchase the small bits like the black bumper cover holders, etc. Dealer is ok if that's all there is..... jf
