For those of us known to blast off a few choice words from time to time, CNN reports on a study that claims swearing increases pain tolerance: [BLEEP!] That hurts! – Paging Dr. Gupta - CNN.com Blogs Tom
I don't think so. I suspect it needs to be something strong by the standards of the person doing the swearing. One of my grandfathers used to say "Gosh Bing!" when he was really upset. Tom
well gosh diddly darn that some good diddly reading. I don't think swearing would be swearing if it weren't swearing. That is to say, illegal drugs wouldn't be illegal except that they're illegal. I remember when I was a kid and I learned a few swear words. It was fun to say them because I wasn't supposed to be saying them. If I had been told that it's okay, no big deal, and if no one were to bat an eye at me saying them I would have stopped saying them. There are comedians who seem to base their entire routine around swear words and talking about "taboo" topics. There's something "fun" about hearing someone say all those things we're not supposed to say. But I've always believed that too many times people introduce swear words into their conversation when they have run out of intelligent things to say.
All I can say is who the F didn't know that... Of course it eases the pain... that's why I do it... to consciously transfer some of my pain to the other folks that need to feel it... almost like being a wizard and casting a spell on an intended victim. And for the record, I used to cuss a little before I went into the service... it wasn't till then that I really learned how to swear...
+1 Especially stuck in BFE, realizing what a SNAFU it would turn out to be, and I could go Tango Uniform if I thought about it too much, I also learned hilarious new combinations to the bad words and acronyms
Hey. Watch your mouth. There are wholesome, decent, Bunny-fearing people reading this thread you know.
It truly is a learning experience having your first major posting to some bunny-jumped-up hole in BFE. Some folks have no option but to go Tango Uniform
In pictures: Bunny suicides | Books | guardian.co.uk I think there is even one with a Prius, but probably not online.
I don't think I've ever seen an ugly bunny. That last one was an unusual colour, maybe, but was still cute as a...bunny.
