hope I can get some help. in the last few weeks. when I shut off my 05 prius, I SOMETIME hear a beep sound that last for about one second. That does not always happen. I would say it happen once every three time I shut down the car. Anyone know why?

The battery in your FOB is probably almost dead.

It's time for replacement with your 2005.

That's $3.49 and a few minutes of work to change it.

John is correct. The same thing happened to me with my 04. Changed the fob batteries and no more beep.

I had the same thing happen. Replaced the fob battery and all was well. Note that age may deplete these batteries more than use, so the fob you've never used may be as dead as the one you used all the time. The batteries are so cheap you can replace both. Or, let the battery die in the spare, since in an emergency you can use the metal key and stick the fob in the slot.

Something else I learned yesterday (after over two years of ownership - yup, I'm slow). The FOB has an LED on it. It flashes when it responds to "queries" from the SKS system! So if you leave a FOB within 2 metres of the car it will drain the battery much sooner. ;)

Stand beside your car and hold the FOB, buttons up, and watch it to see the LED.
