As I noted in another thread, my dad got his Prius III today. Immediately upon coming home from work I pulled up alongside his car and had to begin the comparisons between the two. First thing I noticed, that others may know, but I did not was the difference in the hood emblem. While both do have the blue 'glow' to them his front emblem is identical to the rear emblem and the blue/black is recessed in around the chrome ovals. On my Prius V the front hood emblem is completely flat/smooth.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the radar box behind the emblem on mine, but do other V's w/o the AT package have the flat/smooth emblem or only AT equipped vehicles? I almost wish my rear emblem was the same as the front because it is SO much eaier to Zaino over and keep clean...

I know it’s not a big deal but I'm a stickler for details and would just like to know. I didn't think to take pics but I'll try and get some up Friday (I'll be out of town tomorrow). Thanks all...

My Prius V with NAV (no AT) has the recessed blue/black emblem on both the front and rear.

I'd think the raised metal (if chrome plating could be called that) may interfere w/ the radar receiver. Does explain why they're all plastic plating, makes fitting one vs. the other much simpler.

As promised, here are the pics. You can see on my dads (the black car) it has the emblem same as on the rear where the chrome ovals stick out. Then on mine (the white one) you can see the emblem is totally flat. I really wish my rear one was the same as the front as is is just easier to keep clean and wax over...

I noticed the difference in front badges when building a Prius online. If you switch between a Prius V with and without the ATP, you can see the front emblem change (when viewing the Prius head on, of course) also the front passenger side parking sensor appears and dissapears when you switch between the packages)

I didn't even notice it for more than a week -- I guess it was that long before I washed the car! Using the hatchback all the time, I knew that the rear badge was the "standard" one, and I just assumed the front also was the same. It is a very convincing paint job!

Yes. The difference is whether you have radar cruise or not.

Other non-hybrid Toyotas will substitute the standard Lexus emblems for solid emblems. It's harder to tell if the vehicle already comes with a solid emblem like the new Prius
