    Hello,

I am considering buying a 2010 Prius II but I'd like to purchase the OEM 17 inch rims that come with the V.

I noticed that the II-IV Prius have the same track at about 60.3 inches while the V has a slightly smaller track of 59.8 inches or there abouts.

Does anyone know the answer to the following:

    A) Would the 17 inch OEM wheels fit on work on the Level II Prius?

    B) If so, where would I get these rims? I asked the dealer and the salesman was obviously BSing me...he said it would cost $3000 to get them....which I find truly insulting.

    C) Do all levels of the new Prius have the same suspension systems?

    Anyway, thanks very much.

It's just a guess because no one has any good detailed information about the GIII yet, but I think the difference in track might just be a difference in wheel offset between the 15 and 17 inch Toyota wheels. It most likely makes no difference.

As far as I know the brakes are the same and the suspension must be close to the same - yes I think they would fit. But the turning circle of the II through IV is a couple of feet less than the V which implies that the V wheels are limited to less steering angle at maximum lock, you would need to check very closely and make sure the wider tires didn't rub at full steering lock.

Alloy wheels from the parts department are most likely very expensive, I doubt they are $750 ea but they might be $400 or $500. If you get good ones from Tire Rack (for example) they might be as good as the OEM wheels for a lot less money. Or you could try to find someone on here with a V that wants to swap.

Thanks for the reply! That's very good insight. The steering lock thing is particularly interesting. I'm sure software drives the lock to lock amounts.

I'm sure there are other wheels available. The OEM wheels look clean though. The car has clean lines so IMO it needs a rather clean wheel design...none of those busy looking Scion wheels.

It's amazing how little the dealer knows about these cars. It's actually quite sad that they want people to dish out thousands of dollars of hard earned money and yet A) they are ignorant about the product they sell and B) a ride around the block is justified as being a "test drive."

Cheers and thanks for the feedback. I welcome more comments if anyone else has any info!

i wanted to do the same thing and i ask a guy at the parts counter and he said they were $500. check these out in the picture below, they are Scion TC wheels i think they are 17". They have the same bolt pattern as the prius, you could probably find these online for very cheap.

Another forum member paid nearly $4,000 to upgrade to the factory 17" + tires on his II.
