Any one who has had a previous white car or blizzard pearl prius already tint the windows? Does having a lighter color like BP make the tint look darker than it really is? I was going to tint my windows 30% front 20% back but I might move to 35% all windows. I might be moving to northern states after grad school worried about more restrictive tint laws.

I regretted my decision to get black on my 06 and wished I had gotten the silver. I think the silver looks fab on the Gen II! Especially at night or under flourescent lights in a garage! I'm surprised to hear that the paint seems thin. I highly recommend you NOT getting the black in the new Prius though. If you think the paint seems thin on the silver, it's the same as the black, unless the Gen III has better black paint which I doubt. All the colors except for Blizzard Pearl only have two coats so that could mean a big difference. All I know is that the black shows dings, swirlies, scratches and has become very dull, even with lots of care to it. I am very excited to be getting a new color :D

I was in the same boat as you a month or so ago. Was going to get the silver. I was definitely excited about getting the new Prius but not so excited about the color. My thinking was it's an okay color, won't show dirt, etc... Then I starting thinking about blizzard pearl. Saw a different model Toyota with the color and it was nice. It started to grow on me. Next thing I know, I was not only excited about the getting the new car, but ALSO excited about the color! I've had mine almost a week, it's rained almost every day since I got it, the car is filthy, but still looks great! Nuff said.

Good luck with your purchase. You really can't go wrong with either color.

Sorry for the tease, but here's a close-up I posted that shows the sparkles in the bp paint.

Blizzard Pearl looks quite different in all different lights. It can look quite white or it can look ALMOST eggshell, but not quite ... the creamy tone seems to come out more in overcast and evening sun conditions. I love it much more than I thought I would though and especially appreciated it when I parked next to a Gen II Super White ... almost looks like a slightly dirty white compared (in a good way).

Thanks for the warning on the black. I had wondered, too, and I had a different thread where I was asking about people's opinion's on the black.

Ok, I've got the perfect solution for you since you are so stressed about what color to buy. Buy a car that is painted Blizzard Pearl. Take the car to a paint shop and have them paint the right half of the car Silver.

Actually the paint surface has many more coats than that. All the colors have the same number of layers, its just a question of what makes up those layers. The other colors (not sure about black, some Toyota black is single stage with no clearcoat) are all dual stage paint, while the Blizzard Pearl is a tri-stage. Single stage cars have all color coat layers, dual stage cars (or "clearcoated" cars) have a few top layers of non-pigmented paint) and tri-stage cars have color coats, pearl coats, and clear coats. But all the paint is the same thickness.

I liked the BP on my '08 Highlander Hybrid Limited, but the rear hatch was always dirty looking, even from a distance.

I can already with the Prius that the rear hatch area will have the same tendency to attract dirt, but the silver does a much better job of not showing it.

I also think after having BP for a while and the silver for a few days that the "reflectivity" of the paint is the same, and maybe slightly better with the silver. But I also have to rationalize my choice, don't I. :p

And I also really like the misty gray interior with the darker door panels, versus the dark gray all over look in the interior.

I went in today and was going to order a BP but took a test drive in a Classic Silver Metalic and liked the color better. They located one with Misty Grey interior in TX, so they traded with that dealer and it should be here from Houston in the next few weeks. So I put a deposit down and will drive my 2007 until the 2010 comes in. I did get a much better trade in after they tried to low ball me and started to walk out.

I told them that I wanted no options except NAV and Carpets, they agreed to that so now I wait.

I also told them I wanted the backup beep changed to one and they had not heard of that. I think they have had the 2 or 3 2010's for all of 2 days now. I told the sales manager that not to worry, you got till it comes in to find out about it.

It was not a bad session except for the extremly low try for the trade in.

Anyway I choose Silver over Blizzard Pearl!

I liked the Blizzard Pearl, my wife liked the Silver. Guess what, we got the Silver. I don't think I like the Silver any less. Would I trade for the Blizzard Pearl, NO. I have a 2006 Toyota Siena van in Silver and the Prius Silver is much lighter in color.
