2010 Prius III with Navi

Seaside Oregon to Reno Nevada. Over 1,400 miles with an average of 52.7 MPG. This is based on fuel used not the dash readout.

I noticed the dash readout is about 2 MPG off on the plus side.

So far with over 2,400 miles we are averaging over 50 MPG.

Just picked up our new 2010 package III on Thursday. So far, 48 mpg. Haven't filled the tank yet.
Last year, we rented a 2009 for a weekend trip, Indiana to Michigan and back. Averaged 44 mpg.
We have yet to try to get maximum mileage. We drive like we always did--keeping up with traffic, and getting out of the way of the big trucks who swarm on our local section of I-94. Anything over 45 is like really great for us. we never got better than 22 on our Dodge minvan.

Like Rick, I have a short commute. This typically keeps my mileage down, and I only get big numbers when I take road trips. I have nearly 700 miles on the car in just 10 days, but that is because I've taken two road trips already. The first big trip (180 miles one way) resulted in 62.5 MPG. The return the following day was into the wind and had less congested traffic. The mileage dropped to 56.7.

Interestingly, the past 198 miles have been only short trips (2-4 miles) plus five or six "jaunts" of 5 or 6 miles, and one "long" run of better than 12 miles. In my 2007, at this time of year, I would expect to have 53 to 55. In the new 2010, not broken in, with new tires, AND with 17" wheels and those wide 215/45 R17 tires, I'm at 57.0. Looks pretty good so far!

because the Zenn is still my primary commuter, (short commute anyway) i only drive mostly for family things (2010 is now family car) or when i have multiple errands the Zenn cant handle, so have around 900 miles so far and the other day, i took several short trips plus a 40 RT freeway jaunt. my mileage started the day at 62 mpg (only had 55 miles on new tank filled up last Saturday) after freeway trip, did 3 short trips around town, shopping, groceries, doctor appointment for son, etc. and finished the day at 64 mpg...

so its immediately clear (maybe its summer is why) that short trips dont seem to hurt the tank average like before. now today went to dinner with SO and temps in the 90's here so it was A/C all the way, only in town driving so mileage did take a bit of a hit, only around 63 mpg now.

tomorrow will be another pretty busy day. have dentist, interview, and picking up my grass-fed cow from the farm. will see how the mileage goes, temps again in the 90's so AC will most likely be on most of the day .

 

My in-laws purchased a packge 3 2010 Prius and live in Wisconsin.
Typical trip is ~8 miles a flat road in the country (55mph). Then they arrive in a small town where they drive less than 1 mile (5-30mph). Then later in the day reverse the drive home.

They are still on their first tank.

Cumulative 54.1 Total miles about 420.

They have not touched the tire pressure, so it's probably in the 30s.
They are not aggressive drivers, and are not hypermilers.

They love their Prius!!!

 

What's a Zenn???

 

I'm a skeptic. I drive normally, like always. Well, maybe not pedal to the metal like when I was 16, but KUWT (Keeping Up with Traffic). After 3 weeks on the 2010, we're over 50mpg total average. WRT (Without Really Trying). For Real. No Kidding. I'm happy. No, I'm thrilled! Don't know of anything with a roof and 2 doors that will beat it.

 

Zero Emission No Noise (ZENN) car. It's a fully electric low speed car.

well, 300 miles into this tank still 60+ mpg...will have to see. on last fillup, MFD said 60+ mpg, but fillup said like 54 mpg... so there was 10 mpg difference. so i suspect a bad pump since first two fillups were 59 + mpg... so will have to see how this tank comes out.

My latest: Trip A is being used for just my in-town driving for the moment. I haven't taken a trip or been on the highway (except for about one 5- to 10-minute stretch) for quite some time. This Trip A, then, is really city driving. My commute is short (about 4 miles each way) and then I usually am out to see clients or run other errands a couple of times a day.

Current Trip A: 675.6 miles at 60.6 MPG (average speed 20 mph)

I try to drive for good mileage, but I don't really hypermile. I don't dog it and don't get infront of people who want to zoom, but I glide whenever possible and try to time lights without getting myself in trouble with fellow motorists.

 

First tank fillup: 444 miles @ 51mpg.
I live in montana and drove very mountainous roads. i'm happy so far and it will only get better.
