Long time reader, first time poster! Well, after thinking about it for a LONG time, I finally test drove a Prius on Saturday night and fell in love. I've decided it is the perfect car for me. I'm sold on a Package IV with Solar Sunroof. I purchased a vehicle from this dealership in December 2007 and feel very comfortable with them. Don't ever feel like they are trying to pull something on me. Right now, it seems I have two stumbling blocks: 1. I want the Sunroof. While test driving the dealer told me they had 1 (sold it) but they are extremely rare. He basically made it sound like they are so rare, I shouldn't waste my time. I can't believe that's true...seems like a lot of people on this board have the sunroof! 2. I want Misty Gray interior (with either Winter Gray or Blizzard Pearl exterior). His most recent email to me stated: "none of the vehicles currently in allocation or on the ground in our region have that option, and only a handful of ones in California have that interior, and none on the Winter Gray. All of the Winter Gray are coming with the dark gray interior." I have to keep reminding myself that this car is like 2 weeks old...I have to assume the options will open up quite a bit as the days/months go by. Or, should I be concerned that none in "the region" have that color?!?!? Is that telling me that will be the case in this region for the longer term? Hope not. Nice thing is that I'm not pressured to buy right now. I can wait it out. Just wondering if my waiting may be pointless if the Sunroof is super rare and the misty gray is non existent in my region! Thanks for any thoughts!
If I were you I'd put a deposit on one ... they should be able to preference one the way you want it and pick it out of allocation when they get any other people taken care of on a wait list (if it exists). There's a Winter Gray w/Misty Gray interior in Pkg V sitting on a lot near here, so the color combo does happen.
Are you in Southern or Northern California? I had a friend use his Dealer Daily and there are only 3 IV Solar in Nor Cal right now, well 2 besides mine. I know where they're at if you're interested. If you are in Southern California you might want to contact Dianne who posts here. She is very helpful and should be able to provide you with some answers for the L.A. area. Hope this helps.
I'm actually in Oregon. I saw another poster in Washington on a different thread indicating he's having the same problem finding Misty Gray. Interesting... For the previous poster that suggested the deposit, my dealer won't take a deposit unless they've secured the vehicle. They will take requests during allocation, but unless it's allocated to them...no deposits! They say that way they don't disappoint their customers. I really do like this dealer...one of the "no haggle" type. They post the sticker, then their price. No haggling (or "bull" as they call it). Gave me a GREAT price on my last trade in and a fair price on my last purchase! Thanks all...
