Like I said in another thread - MSRP for your South Florida Prius V with Navigation is $30,074. Stick to that number for a good deal.

    Good Luck.

    Hey Vincent,

I spoke to a dealer yesterday who explained that I could wait until July/August and get it close to invoice.

    I believe it.

Dealers across the Country seem to be sticking to MSRP so far, although there's always an impatient buyer who will pay a premium to "have it now". When the initial demand is satisfied, dealers will start to deal. However, the real pricing pressure will return as gas crosses the $3.00 mark (or even +$4.00 like last Summer).

There may be a very short window between satisfying the initial demand and getting a deal and the return of high gas prices and the MSRP premium.

I'm loving my 2010 and you will too.

no luck with MSRP here in LA. so far everybody is doing $3000 or more over. I am a little disenchanted. We'd pay MSRP for one today if we could. I was told that I could order one, but i still would have to pay whatever the current markup is when it was delivered. Crap!

Take a drive/flight east.....I've read posts here on PC claiming more reasonable pricing in Arizona & Nevada.

Not for nothing but if anyone pays $3k over MSRP is a real sucker. Remember the PT Cruiser and the premiums those cars were getting. I know there's no comparison, but there is NO excuse for paying $3k over for a Prius that will be a little over invoice in three or four months time. Mark my word!!!

Did you try Dianne Whitmire from Manhattan Beach Toyota? Search the posts around here. She states MSRP. She might even have a few Priuses coming soon.

I ordered one from her allotment last Wednesday. Should be here in about 10 days (hopefully less)

It would be cheaper to fly to Florida to buy one for msrp than to buy one in L.A.

It would be cheaper to buy it anywhere else in the country and pay a car transporter to haul it back.

Dianne Whitmire (or her dealership, depending who you wish to believe) has a spotty past. They played a bait and switch routine offering msrp as an online sale, but the cars were typically only available 'on the dealership floor' at steep mark-up.

LA is a whacky place. You are more likely to park between a Mercedes and a BMW at the grocery store than between a Chevy and a Ford. There is just to many people here to whom the extra $3000 is like an extra $20 for you and me. The guy at the dealer told me that when the Lexus SUV hybrid came out it was selling $14000 over MSRP, and a rapper came over from Hollywood to buy it from him, because the Beverly Hills dealer was selling it $20K over invoice. in any case, true or not, this is all bull. I will probably send out an email to the Toyota dealers that are a little further out of the way to see if they sell one for MSRP. I at least drove the car and it definaely matches my expectations, so I wll buy it if I can.

I'll see in about 10 days. However Diane seems very sincere and easy to communicate with. She seems to be a very active member on these boards. Believe you me, if any shenanigans happens with my deal, I'll let you all know.
