When we first saw Lexus' new luxury hybrid, it was being revealed at the 2009 Detroit auto show. Recently we were given an opportunity to preview the new Lexus HS 250h, a vehicle that the automaker is calling the world's first luxury dedicated hybrid. It also calls the HS an economy luxury car, which to us seems like a bit of an oxymoron. As I approached the vehicle, my first thought was, "Oh my, they've Lexusified and hybridized a Corolla! This is going to be a disaster." I couldn't have been more wrong. Lexus HS 250h luxury hybrid (first drive) | The Car Tech blog - CNET Reviews
Wow!!! You can go green and impress chicks at the same time!!! SOLD !!!! hahaha. (but seriously, it's not a bad thought) Maybe we can move all of the trendy people in their 30s from the IS Lexus to these 250h hybrids. "Fuel economy is an estimated 35 miles per gallon city and 34 mpg highway" (why not 40mpg?) .
is it just me or does the HS 250h look kinda like a slightly larger (and obviously more upscale) Corolla Hybrid?
it turns most of the public thinks so and it has been selling pretty bad... although, it has nothing to do with Corolla, it is based on European Avensis platform with unique interior/exterior.
My wife is getting a consistant 37 mpg from hers (combined mileage) and she has a pretty heavy foot, so I'm impressed. Driving it like I drive my prius, I could probably squeeze 40 mpg out of it...
