No, but it was for another member that is flying in tomorrow for delivery. I'll let him disclose his name if he wishes.

Trust me, the only ones that will drive it is the guy unloading it off the truck, the tech who has to do his pre-delivery inspection, and me when I get you a full tank of gas.

I just sent the EM to my dealer politely requesting that my car not be used as a demo either. It's one of those points that you want to ask politely, and not accuse in the process.

I was very pleased with my dealer in Beaverton, OR. They obviously had the same attitude as Jabber, respecting that the car was mine. When I arrived, it was displaying a SOLD sign and was parked under a nice shady canapy. And, as I said earlier, I recieved it with 7 miles on it.

I guess I didn't have enough faith before, imagining every tech, sales guy, manager and so on to drive my car, when in reality, they delivered it to me as they would want it delivered to themselves if they were buying.

This might sound persnickety, but I think a new car buyer has a right to get a car no one else has test driven, if they so choose.

Fremont Toyota has a loop they use for test drives. I've seen a number of people stop on the loop, then jack rabbit start to 'see what she'll do'. This flies in the face of Toyota's break-in recommendation of ....

'... avoid sudden (full throttle) acceleration for the first 621 miles.'

To each his own, but I follow mfrs. recomm's to be safe.

Others like to drive it like they stole it. Whateva.

cycledrum, for that very reason, and for accident risk, are the two that I want mine with as few touches as possible.

I'm quite deliberate in following the break-in recommendations. Of course, once that 600 mile period passes, all bets are off that I won't "see what she'll do" myself.

Our 07 TCH had about 350 miles on it, but it was a dealer trade (to get exactly what we wanted), and the local dealer chose to hire a driver to move it (vs a rollback). The other dealer was almost 350 miles away.

im sorry but i find it hard to understand this "no compromise" stand you have....

if its test driven, dont buy it... so what??? dont test drive the car first??

what if you drive it and then dont want to buy it?? what you gonna pay for that test drive?? since now, at least in your mind, "it no longer fit to be sold as new?"

now, i am on my 3rd Pri, never test drove any of them. in fact, made a commitment to the first two with a strong possibility of an extended wait time (heck on my 04, they did not even have a demo that i could look at, only the sales flyers!! waited 6½ months for delivery!!) and because i got Tidelands color, it wasnt even the same color i picked !!

i guess you can get a general idea of how a car will drive by testing the demo and to be honest with ya, i used to test drive cars before but that was back when i might have purchased any car available.

Some vehicles fit you and some just do not feel/fit right! I would not have place my order for a 2010 Prius w/o having been able to test drive it; also drove a used '07 for comparison. The dealer allowed me to test drive in a SOLD unit, the only one on the lot [IMG]; otherwise I would have walked/waited for that test drive over the next weeks/months and perhaps at another of the four dealers I was in contact with.

    Mine had 2 miles. :)

My dealer doesn't allow anybody to drive (or even sit in) sold cars, except the PDI tech, and salesman (to fill up with gas). Gotta love Toyota Sunnyvale.

My 2010 had 9 miles on it, and part of that was from our short test drive.

Mine hat 8. My dealer's PDI loop must be a bit longer, and I know the car wash they use is not on the lot. I'm over 400 now though ;)

Mine had 1 mile but the dealer test drove it and filled it with gas and that made it 5 miles before my test drive.
