What tires did you get on your 2010?

    As I and others on PC have reported before, there are 3 different tire models on both the 15" and 17" tires.

    I noticed that our first confirmed 2010 Prius owner, winebuff, has the 15" Yokohama Avid tires (though I can't tell the exact model).

    What else are we seeing? Please be sure to include your city/state if it's not in your profile so we can try and track which tires are coming into which regions.

    So, can the regions per-order the brand/type of tires?

    And a side question - I'm in FL and may very well purchase a car from another region, like Chicago area. So might I be getting tires better suited for all-season?

    Also Danny, if I may suggest - on the 2010 pics-only sticky thread...if we can keep the active posts solely to ones with pics (and not the ones with only comments about the pics). I'm finding it difficult to keep up with new -informative- posts. Lots of chaff to go through. Thanks.

    Regions will get the tires that they happen to receive. It's based on factors like availability and pricing of the tires at the time of production. I'm not imagining a big regional variance, but I thought it might be interesting to have some data on it.

    I believe I read (on PriusChat, no less) that the 17"s are going to be Michelin Pilot HX MXM4s. This is a very pricey tire, though it hasn't received the highest praise, particularly for snow/ice conditions.

    If anyone has seen a Prius V with 17" wheels, please let us know what tires it wears.

    Sadly, the reviews I found on TireRack were generally very negative. The S33 didn't show in their survey do I can't see how people rate them in the various categories.

    I assume that they're typical OE tires -- fair to middlin' in quality -- but should have low rolling resistance.

    Prius Team had said for the 17's (I remember only info on the 17's because that's what I am getting) there are 3 tires you may get...

    Bridgestone, Toyo or Michelins.

    Most OEM tires stink and when u replace them, the dealer overprices them. It all depends on your priorites (sport, wet, all season).

    Tires are one overlooked item that can make/break your perceptions.

    I don't see a Toyo 215/45 17 that fits the bill (all season tires). Michelin has several options, but the one I'd heard rumored is not the best of Michelin's tires. The only Bridgestone all-season in the market looks to be a pretty good tire: Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Position. It isn't as costly as the Michelin Pilot, but I think it will have better winter weather performance, longer wear and better mileage.

    You can guess which one I'm hoping for!!

    I swore they said Toyo as one of the 17 inch tires during the online chat. I sure hope I dont get the Michelin's but I bet I am... I had Michelins on my Acura TL Type S and I hated them. Here's to hoping for the Bridgestones as well.

    Perhaps it was Kumho Ecstas or Yokohama Avids (H4S)? Either one would be pretty good, I'd say.

    I don't believe the Proxes R30 is available in America. I know it doesn't mean it couldn't ship with the cars, but I haven't seen it. Also, if it is a summer tire, it won't be on a car headed to Chicago!!

    The Turanza ER33 is an interesting tire choice. It also is a summer tire, though, and I doubt is headed my way.
