Maybe if we put a kayak under each wheel, we can float the cars away! If I remember correctly, it's suppose to arrive at the Panama today, which means it should show up on the map.
Kentucky Highway now in Panama. Hasn't crossed over yet. Eastern Highway there too. Don't know what's on that one.
Or your car could be on a train. Excerpt on Toyota-Portland Port. "Toyota expects to process and test more than 175,000 imported and domestically built Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles annually through the facility. After the vehicles are processed and tested, they are distributed to states throughout the country including Oregon and Washington. Most of the vehicles are moved out of the facility by train." "Our 207 associates process and accessorize vehicles before they are moved onto rail cars and trucks for distribution to 21 states, Corbin said."
A train heist!! That would solve the problem of getting the car from the ship to shore! Very Butch Cassidy... hold up the train and drive the car off into the sunset.... Who's with me??
In this day and age, I would not be even joking too much about pirating, heisting, or taking a gun anywhere... While we (most of us without our 2010 yet, at least) understand the joke, as well as where you are coming from, having personally seen someone arrested at an airport checkpoint for a similar joke, would just be careful. (Again, please know that I know that you are kidding, and laughed at this...) But with the shootings in the US and around the world nowadays, I would think twice about posting that... Now, if that train were to derail and gently spill out the cars without damage... I would be there to scoop them up.
I don't think I've ever been accused of being PC - I always think of the wrong thing to say at wrong time. Alas - if Homeland Security is monitoring PriusChat - mea culpa and I promise not to threaten a Toyota ever again! I have heard from my darling dealer (Hi Richard! - he's watching the forum) that the ship is expected to reach NYC on May 29. Sounds like a reason to take the day off and celebrate! arty:
Ditto - Delivery date will be a local holiday in my house, as I need to work diligently to drive through the 600 mile break-in period while showing off the car to friends and family. I imagine that I will be able to do that on my first tank of gas.
Schiffe - Positionen und Fotos - vesseltracker.com Kentucky Highway is Moored outside Balboa, Panama. Waiting in line for a tug through the canal. Eastern Highway has already started its passage. Cars in Houston? By train? Will look for a ship that snuck by.
Wow this vessel tracker site has some serious email verification! 3 seperate emails! Thanks for the link
Does anyone know which port the Chicagoland cars come through? Have all cars on the ships been allocated to dealers already?
Kentucky Highway on the move through Panama Canal. Got picture at the locks. See the Car Carrier Ship Tracking Thread I made.
About damned time! Why couldn't they send this ship out first or earlier knowing it would take so long to reach the NE compared to other areas? Really, it would be nice to have somewhat of a nationwide rollout of vehicles.
Yes, all cars have been allocated. Chicago cars come through Portland. There is still a boat out there on its way here. Scheduled to hit port on 5/27.
I think there should be a flippin' traffic jam of Prius-carrying ships out there!! Come on Captains - Full Speed Ahead!
I agree, Maggiemay. Unfortunately, "Full speed ahead" = about 16 knots = about 18mph No danger of getting a ticket I guess...
