well despite what my profile says, my 2010 is not on order.

now that i have very little experience on it so far. some initial observations (some of which may change due to user education!)

so far, still learning it and have issues with touch screen responsiveness. when i hit setup button, half my options are grayed out most of the time. i have to toggle back and forth several times before the Nav and phone buttons became available. also, i hit the option for the phone # pad and it took so long to display the screen that i ended up having to dial my voice mail pw on the phone itself.

other than that, it will take bit of getting used to economy mode. it really makes the car feel sluggish, but i guess that is a good thing but am so used to the light-footed driving on the 06. no biggie... i could just leave it in power mode which i have now nicknamed "classic" mode

now was going to complain about nav because it would not take my addy, but that was until i realized that after 20 months of living here, i still have issues remembering my house number

and finally, homelink doesnt work, so apparently (according to manual) i must have opener with rolling codes or something. so will have to prog from button on opener itself. not sure i want to do that since i still need garage door opener to work with the two remotes i have.

either way, i decided that the sales tax exemption disappearing in july and the priority discount, it was just too much to pass up. so it be what it be

Regarding Homelink--even with a rolling code opener, it's no big deal to program, and you can also continue to use your other remotes.

You need to use one of your remotes (keep it very close to the rear view mirror), and during the process, press the red button on the garage door opener.

I'd be surprised if the Prius owners manual didn't include instructions for rolling code openers, but if not you can find them on Homelink's site:
HomeLink; Home automation,Wireless control system, universal transceiver, RF control, Home security, smart home, vehicle to home, home automation, remote control lighting and home control

The standalone remotes you have will be unaffected by this, if that's your question.

The learn button on the garage door opener unit is typically located near or inside the cover for the lights. It's typically a tiny red button, smaller than the size of a pencil eraser.

Our Prius V. must have been made latter in the day. We show # 00962. Must have taken longer to add all the extra high tech gizmos

    :p

Last time I programed a garage door opener, I had to use the code from the hand held controler brochure and input its code (roll/punch/set the code) into the unit up near the ceiling from the top of a ladder.

the VIN ends with 1000368.... sure as heck didnt think i was the millionth Pri made and VIN i had to provide to insurance company (whatever good that did...since this is 3rd Car of the last 4 where they claimed the VIN did not exist) and then faxed insurance to the dealer before i could drive out of there.

they did confirm i am first in WA State so i guess i ok with that... i did get the only 2010 they had so it was a bit of a letdown for the salesmen that now they did not have one to show people

    Congratulations!
The first digit "1" tells us it was built at Toyota Tsutsumi plant.
The "5" one came from Toyota Autobody Fujimatsu plant.

Mine will end with 1001932 - looks like I'm higher up the chain, but same Tsutsumi plant.

Hey Rick, I'm not to far behind you - 1002880. Our cars are (were?) aboard the same cargo ship, Continental Highway. But I believe yours will be shipped to the dealership before mine. My ETA is June 10th.

The "Temp VIN" for my Prius V, Navi is A00002315. How does that correspond to the actual VIN#, if at all?

Also, are all the 2010's built in the same Tsutsumi plant?

Can't get close to you Dave! My VIN is showing the same Tsutsumi plant, but build 1895.

1895 was an interesting year. A plague in London. Bigfoot sitings in NY and New England. And the first U.S. patent is issued for an automobile. Hmm. Which one do I think of when looking at my car . . .

Or I could think of the sports heroes born in 1895. Babe Ruth -- the car's a home run. George Halas -- The 2010 Prius will be bigger than NFL football. Jack Dempsey -- A knockout! Shemp Howard -- Another knockout (oops, knucklehead) No. No Three Stooges stuff.

How about stage and screen? John Ford -- The ultimate Western. Rudy Valentino -- 2010 Prius as the car for lovers! Buster Keaton -- the Stone Faced Prius?

Inventors? Buckminster Fuller -- 2010 Prius is better than the geodesic dome on wheels?
