I thought the option III can have solar sunroof, but the website does not offer this configuration.

Hmmm... that's very peculiar...you're right, the options we were given when they came outhad Prius III "available" in the both Nav and Solar columns... might make a lot of people upset if they changed their minds on the III/Solar/Nav combination options.

Nothing's changed. It's just the Build Your Own feature telling you what you can build or get in the next couple of months in your zip code. But don't be surprised if it never lets you build a Prius III with Solar Sunroof in your zip code. I'd try zip codes of areas you're willing to travel to.

Not all regions are getting all option combinations, at least initially. Prius III with solar/nav can be built for the region where I live, the Mountain West but the IV can't be built without solar/nav.

Dealer told me there would be no Prius III with Solar for California.... Have to shell out extra waste of money for the Prius IV if i want the car any time soon...

Oh that is brilliant. No sun roof in the one of the sunniest states? I REALLY hate how Toyota is still deciding what combinations people can buy based on region. I mean, if they had a snow plow package, I can see not selling that in Florida, but people (besides me) all over the country buy convertibles and cars with sunroofs. It is still a 'you can get any Prius you want, as long as it is one WE decide to send to your region' sales.

This is not Toyota deciding which ones they send to your region, but rather your region's decision as to what cars they will buy, and in torn sell to you.

Many people here feel the pain of their regions decisions, and opt to buy elsewhere. Jabber (my dealer on the forum), still has several cars coming in, and if you would like to come to Illinois, he would be happy to sell you a Prius III with Sunroof.

Not all regions will be getting all available configurations... This was posted by Toyota aka the Prius Team. Here's what they said about it:

I hate Toyota for doing this to us.

For a good while ive been wanting my Prius III with Solar here in Sacramento CA.. every since they release the official specs and packages ive waited for the day i could finally order one. I went to dealer, paid them 500 bucks to get on the list after they confirmed my package selection with no problems. then one day they call me and tell me California is not gonna get any Prius III with Solar.

That If i wanted solar i would have to get a Prius IV package. They are clearly FORCING us to pay more for what we want, instead of just releasing specs they said everywhere.

    Prius III = 23,750 + 3,600 Solar option = 27,350. A great deal.
    Prius IV = 28,350 + 3,600 Solar option = 30,150. Rip off.

The Base cost from the Prius IV alone is more than what the Prius 3 with solar would cost. One can clearly see why toyota did this. Sure, force your loyal Prius customers pay more for that they want.

Now i am gonna be stuck with out my 2010 if i dont suck it up and pay more for a car with options i do not want.

Are you sure they are NEVER getting them? My dealer (WA state) said that they WILL be getting them but that Toyota didn't make very many so they are coming in limited amounts and thus taking much longer than other combos to get.

They said I can definitely get one but it will probably be closer to end of June, early July before it arrives. So if I want to upgrade to the IV in the meantime....
I told them "sure! if the price stays the same." :p

    Prius III = 23,750 + 1,500 aftermarket sunroof + 300 superior Garmin Nav = 25,550. The best deal.

Or if you do like the IV:

    Prius III = 23,750 + 1,500 aftermarket sunroof + 1500 aftermarket leather heated seats w/lumbar + 300 superior Garmin Nav + 200 homelink mirror= 27,250.

    i second that!!

Maybe I've just had the one bad experience but I have after market sunroof in my honda and it is HORRIBLE!! I know it was put it in 96 and things have changed a bit since then ;) but my ceiling is LITERALLY falling down on my head from where they cut it out and reglued it and I can't reglue it cause it is so old it won't stick to the roof anymore. And the button to shut the sunroof doesn't work. It closes and opens and closes and opens. I finally have to touch it in the off/on way until I can manually close it. SUCKS.

Anyway, I love the sunroof feeling but will NOT do after market on anything that important.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, where we have ten months a year of rain, I was able to configure package III or IV with a sunroof, but not package V. Go figure.

As has been posted myriad times on this forum, they are not producing any 2010 Prius V with Factory Sun roof for the U.S. Market.

Got a call from our local dealer today - Tuesday 5/19-asking if I wanted the solar roof in a package 3 or 4. The major difference being cloth versus leather seats. Not sure so coming in next Monday to see their delivery cars.

Go figure? There's nothing to figure, where on the options page does it say you can get the sun/solar roof option on a Prius V on Toyota's website?

Toyota Prius - 2010 Options and Packages

Well, that and it's been discussed to death on here that the Prius V is not available with the solar roof option.

To get the solar roof option you have to get a Prius III or IV, and even then some regions may not be getting all combinations of vehicle from the start.

Speaking of which, tomorrow I'm actually cutting a hole in my 2007 roof and installing a Webasto 4300 sunroof:

Then I'll attach that Auto Cool Solar Powered Fan:

    Voila! Solar Sunroof!

I've tried these in the side windows. If there is any sort of solar tinting to block IR, the panel "output" is severely hindered. What spun adequately outside of the car came practically to a halt once installed behind the Prius glass.

Try mine - 85379. This will do a lookup for Phoenix area dealers which have access to III or IV. Anywhere within the "Denver" region has both the III and the IV available w/ the solar roof. The IV is "required", the III can be NAV or Roof.

Note - ALL Phoenix area dealers have a semi-hi doc fee (mine is $349 flat), but the dealer I chose has the lowest of any of them. Sales tax is also calculated based on the dealer location. On the plus side, AZ law allows trade-ins to offset sales tax proportionately.
