    Hi all,
    I hope this is'nt too obviously a newbie question:welcome:. I have a 2000 NHW11 Classic.
After the ICE has completed warmup, when I stop and select Park the ICE starts just before I turn off the car and again on startup (even when the ICE is at normal operating temp). Is this normal? and is there any way/techniques/tricks to stop the ICE starting all the time when shifting into Park?
    Thanks :):):):):)

Hi N Zed. Yeah, they do that. We used to call it 'housekeeping', and regarded it as perhaps unnecessary. If you pause at 'N' before you shift 'P' it won't happen.

Or, you go to P first then N then back to P. I forgot which procedure works. Car is not here...

I have not noticed that. When I get gas I pull up to the pump and hit P, pump the gas and drive off. The ICE never comes on while I'm filling the car.

It can, and will eventually. Refilling while in Park has been the topic of numerous posts. I don't recommend it for two reasons:

    1) It is illegal in most areas.

    2) The Prius fuel system has several automatic valves which are not properly configured for refueling when in Park.

Not that it stops a ton of us from doing it anyway.
