Thought you might enjoy this glimpse at some of the very first Prius on US soil. Sorry for the quality/cropping, but something is better than nothing, right?

    Best,

Nice, I'm betting that first one (blue ribbon) was the one I declined.

You know, the more I see them, the more I like the standard wheel without the covers...

Anyway, thanks for spreading the pics. Looks great.

Was just going to say the same exact thing (including the thanks)!

I think the ones with the covers are the 17" wheels- definitely look way better.

    /tear... they're beautiful! hahaha.

Yeah the twin spoke 15" is looking better and better. I initially didn't like it when I saw it at Detroit (even though I'm a fan of twin spoke design).

    Thanks Erica! Thanks Doug!

    Thanks E & D!

The 15" naked alloys do look surprisingly nice. Which leads to the question...why? Considering the extra cost (and added grams of weight) of the 4 wheelcovers, wonder why Toyota simply didn't design the 15" alloys to be a bit more aerodynamic and be done with the wheelcovers? Only reason I can see...more incentive for some of us to go with the 17's / V. As I will.
And - pushing the envelope, any plans for 16" wheel/tires in the near future?

Good to see pics of the first batch of babies. Did I miss where these pics were taken - Portland?

I'm sure, speaking for all of us, any bits and pieces you can feed us - like more pics - would be very much appreciated.

Covers aid in aerodynamics, but I'm on the fence on whether it looks nicer w/o as well. The trim rings on my 2004 eventually came off as they began to crack/break from road debris, careless tire monkeys, etc.

    Thanks for the nice pics.

Hopefully changing from one to two anchor eyelets will eliminate the alignment problem that many people have reported here. :)

Whoa! I don't remember seeing the twin-spoker wheels in the
piles of reveal-event pictures. Those are pretty sweet, in, well,
    a somewhat "urban" way...

They were included -- as was discussion about those wheels. I would say more people did not like the look of the bare wheels than those who found them appealing or even OK. I wasn't one to say they were that ugly, but I liked then (and now) the current 15" bare wheels better than the ones for the 2010.

One of the reasons the new 15s were so quickly dismissed may be that they just paled when compared to the look of the 17s with those low profile tires.
