The lease on my Volvo S60R (300HP, 0-60 in 5.5 secs, 20 mpg) will expire July 2nd. Current plan is to buy a 2010 Prius. By end of June, will I be able to walk into a large Toyota dealership in the So. CA area and find them in inventory?

I can't speak for california but I feel in the northeast every dealer will have 2010 models everywhere. In New Jersey dealers have to be very competitive because every few miles there is a Toyota dealership. Now I think they will probably be all prius 2 and 3 models. I do think that the loaded prius 5 and models with sunroof options will not be easy to find for the first few months.

Even in SoCal you can find the 2010 Prius for MSRP, if you're willing to drive. Email me if you need some details.

My dealer called to tell me first or second week of June and mine will likely be in. The first one is promise, the second one is mine - if I want it, and I haven't decided I do. I like to run a car into the ground, and I've only got 85k on my 2004.

I think that there are going to be plenty to go around unless gas hits $3 again. Then all bets are off. I don't expect discounts of any more than a few hundred by August, but that's again assuming that gas prices stay below $3. From the looks of things, they are headed to $3 again quickly.

I would say that by the end of July, you will see a full supply of 2010's. In June you will see a variety of 2010's but maybe not the exact one you are looking for.

Probably at one of the larger stores. It all depends on how many 'pre orders' that store has. I'd say July/Aug is a definite but late June there may be isolated units on the ground not yet taken. At that point it will be 'take it or leave it' as regards color, model and packages. Almost certainly there will be no choice. It would still be too early.

Thanks for the replies. A few months back I went to a Toyota dealership and asked about the 2010 Prius. I was told that they needed to sell all 2009 inventory before receiving the 2010. Last week I drove by and they still had dozens of 2009. My ideal Prius would be a IV with Solar/Nav in black. Because I don't have another car, I must get something before July 2nd so I am somewhat flexible.

Anyone knows when we in Detroit are going to see the 2010s ? I am in the priority list having paid $500 deposit. Dealer told me the same....wait till June for a showroom model and July for delivery...by the way offered me 0% to pick up a 2009 model...I said no. Seems like they are trying to keep timelines under the carpet to some extent...to push out 2009s....:mod:

I haven't heard anything about the delivery process to the gulf coast region. Anyone else from the gulf coast area? Heard anything? (I'm in New Orleans).

I've got my heart set on a Prius IV with Solar Moon Roof package. (It's a toss up between metallic gray or silver..hmmm..) The solar roof is really gonna come in handy for the sticky, New Orleans summers.

The lots at my local dealerships are still full of 09s. My best guess (gathering from what ya'll stated) is that most regions won't get a large supply til mid-June to early July (possibly longer). I hope I'm wrong. I'm soooo ready for my 1st Prius! This whole "patience" thing is wearing thin. :mmph:

We don't get to be on the priority list because we made a deposit.

The Prius Priority order program was by invitation only, and allowed long-time members of PriusChat to place orders in January and February--not Johnny-come-latelies like us!

I spoke to the GM today at my local dealer and he told me I dont need to put down a deposit. They have many 09's still available and will need to get them out b4 selling 2010's. But, for $500 over MSRP, myself and anyone who wants whatever they get allocated will get their choice of a 2010. His attitude on those with deposits was, they'll get one when the rush is over and we make as much profit as we can while the 2010 is in high demand. This reminds me of when Harleys were the hot items back in the 90's. Did the same thing except they let me pay MSRP as long as I put $1500 in extra's on it. So, my advise if you really want one and dont want to wait for the demand to drop, offer MSRP + and maybe they'll throw in some goodies...
