YES!!! Make California the mirror state.

Yes, he definitely said it. What is not as well known is why he said it. It turns out that the black paint he used dried faster than any other color. So to keep his assembly line moving at the fastest rate, and his vehicle cost down, black was the only option.

It is a trick question, no doubt.
The correct question is, which uses more energy --- a black Escalate or a white Escalate?

It would appear that bashing CA is a freebie, however.

Hey! I heard that the Prius is a micro car and only gets 17 mpg!

This is actually quite funny coming from a Texan. LMAO

No state is perfect and is made up of a wide range of political and cultural opinions. To flame a whole state is rather lame. That would be like me flaming your WHOLE state just because I see so many simple-minded knuckledraggers who love to spout of their political or religious ideologies at any chance they get, they even have a predilection towards politically driven icons, names, and titles. True story. :) Fortunately I know not everyone in that state thinks like they do so I'll refrain from bashing the ENTIRE state.

Let's flame both Texas and California. I've started it, now the rest of you pile on. :D

Covering large surfaces with white instead of less reflective colors actually can make a difference in the global warming equation. There is both real science
(see the bottom of RIKLBLOG - Pasta Power — The Results)
    and Richard science
(RIKLBLOG - Fun With Mirrors ) behind this.

I live in NJ, where, as far as I know, there has been no movement to ban BLUE cars, so I have no reason to move yet.

New Jersey joke: Why are there two tunnels but only one bridge from Manhattan to New Jersey? Because two out of three people don't want to be seen coming here.

Why don't you start the movement. Then you would have a reason. (Humor)

IF certain color cars are banned are certain color people next?
Just an illogical extention of the original question. Which seems to be the norm in Cal.

Sure, that would make a lot of sense:D

Except, I wonder if they thought about physics of black bodies? Black also radiates more heat faster than those highly reflective colors.

Oh boy, I can hardly wait. No more black and white cop cars. If California wants to lead by example, then all government cars (including police cars) should be pink...

You pick unappealing colors because you're buying this crap. Meanwhile I'll continue to buy black vehicles because I like the way they look. And if my local goverment tries to regulate that, There's always the lawsuit.

Have you ever taken a thermo-gun and walked around a parking lot full of cars that are identical except for paint color and tested each one of them (in the same body location) on a hot day? I did just this at one of our annual LS1 drag racing meets and 20+degree temperature ranges were observed between light cars and very dark cars. :)

Why the exterior color has something to do with the interior temperature?
CA should regulate the interior color (no more black/dark leather/cloth), and ban all wood trims in the luxury cars too (just to be green!)
CA should also mandate UV-glass and solar panels for heat-venting to be equipped on all vehicles. If going one-step further, all CA DMVs should distribute Heat-Shield for windshield along with any new vehicle registration. This will certainly help the car owners to stay Cool always.
