My inlaws are in town. Mother in law thought a prius would be cool. She knows nothing about it and neither do I. They have been here three days were getting ready to leave when the prius would not start. The fob will unlock the car, the lights are on, it seems fine but it will not start. I am clueless on what to do. Please help me.

Is your foot on the brake when you press the start button to start the car?

After you try to turn it ON is the "Ready" light lit on the dash? The light inside the POWER button should flash amber for a moment and then go dark; if it stays amber or turns green the car will not go. Turn the car OFF and try again: foot firmly on brake, push the POWER button firmly ONCE for one second; don't stab at it multiple times.

The engine will not start immediately. There will be several seconds before the engine starts but if READY is lit you can drive it immediately.

If this is a rental call the rental agency.
