Hello. First time posting, but I've been a long time reader. I've been eyeing a Prius for a long time. With the recent talk of the "cash for clunker" program moving forward and hopefully passing soon, my quest for purchasing a new Prius has been made that much more reachable. I drive a Jeep right now. The car gets 16 mpg. Sad. Anywho, I plan on trading in my Jeep and putting down an additional 5k that I've saved up. I have my eye on the Prius II package. Now here's my question. Potentially, I'm going to be putting down a down payment of around 10k for the Prius. I don't know if this is pushing it, but hopefully I can get the Prius for 23500-24000 out the door. I'll be financing the rest off. Now, I know no one knows this, but do ya'll think that I can get the car for 23500-24000 out the door? Thanks!

When you mean "out the door", are you including tax, title, doc fees, or only MSRP + destination charge?

Not everyone here knows your tax rate and the amount that the title and fees should typically come to.

That said, given the horrible economy, terrible US auto sales, and relatively low gas prices (By The Numbers — Autoblog), I bet you should be able to get it at MSRP + dest. charge (+ the other above legit items) within a month or two (if not earlier) after the 1st ones hit showrooms.

If $ is a tight, then you might be better off getting a leftover 09 once 2010s hit the showrooms as I'm sure there will be incentives + discounts to move those.
