Ok, I admit it, I am addicted to this car. How about trivia to pass our time. Answer the question than post one for the next person. Here goes:

    "To go before" in Latin.

What is the voltage of the battery in the Original Prius?

The original Prius was the NHW10 model sold only in Japan, although it eventually ended up in other RHD markets such as UK, New Zealand and Australia via grey market importation. That vehicle had a traction battery with nominal voltage of 288V (240 cells at 1.2V each.)

Here's the next question: How many external antennas does the 2G Smart Entry / Smart Start system have, and what are their locations?

Winnipeg, Vancouver and Victoria in Canada. I believe SeaTac airport has some in WA state.

That's the Classic's battery voltage. The Original is 288V as Patrick has pointed out.

external? none... aren't they all inside the car?

j/k. I think I know what you mean so I'll say 3 (one for each door). There are also two internal antennas for detecting the SKS fob inside the car. One is sorta under the centre console and one near the cargo area.

    Re: Priuses as taxicabs
While I can't confirm which company(s) use(s) them here in the Seattle area, I certainly do see them running around.

Dooh, semantics. :D I was thinking "original" as in first in the US.

    Ok, here's one:

What basic option was missing on the 2001 Prius that could be added afterward, that finally became available for 2002?

Yes, cruise control required a steering wheel update just to add the stalk in 2001.

Cruise control and side airbags. However, both of those options were installed in my 2001 first purchased in Hawaii. That car also had DRL.

Hmmmm . . . well with new EPA causing about a 10% hit across the board (so we're talking apples vs apples) and thus accordingly knocking about 5 mpg off the insight so as to gauge'em on the same plane ... i'm going to guess the insight would still beat the Gen III by maybe 1mpg ??
