very cool, very funky... although the style does look like a modernized 90s design (does that make sense).

Also how come the link is to a Greek Picasa? lol

Are we sure they didn't just buy a bunch of Scions and rebrand them?

No, cause this is the third generation Cube. The Scion xB (Toyota bB) is only in its second generation IIRC.

I think the new Cube pales next to the second gen one. Like the bB its been made too aggressive looking for the overseas market, thereby losing some of the cutesy boxiness of the "Postman Pat" type design. The grilles on the second gen especially are much nicer, both the standard LED display type one and the pimped Rider chrome one. They've kept the asymmetric wrap-around window, but I still think it looks better on the old one. I don't like the new alloys either.

In Japan, they call such cars "tall wagons", and if you've ever been in one, you notice the headroom straight away. They're really roomy inside.

I used to drive a Minica Toppo when I lived in Japan. Nice and tall!

I just wish they would hurry up and get some more of those cars over here...

We get the bB rebadged as the Scion xB. It has tons of headroom. Our new xB is slightly different from your 2nd Gen bB.

The new Nissan Cubes should start arriving at the local dealerships in the next two weeks so you should start seeing them on the roads shortly thereafter.

I rode in a Nissan Cube on the Naval base in Yokosuka, Japan last year.
I thought they were pretty cool but there is no way to fit three normal people in the back. I never thought I would see the day where these tiny Japanese cars would infiltrate American roads. I am glad people are realizing that they do not have to be able to carry everything with them all the time in fuel-inefficient vehicles. Bring on the Asian invasion!

Lol, you must be young! Tiny Asian cars have been on our roads for about 40 years. And they used to be tinier! (Unfortunately, car models have a tendency to grow.)

Compare the lengths of these Asian cars sold in the US:

    2009 Nissan Cube: 156.7 inches

    2007 Scion xB: 155.3 inches

1984-87 Honda Civic Wagon: 158 inches

And they used to be tinier:

    1974-79 Honda Civic: 146.9 inches

    1973 Honda Civic: 139.8 inches

The difference i'm sure is that the Cube feels more spacious than the Civic Wagon.

that '73 Civic was the size of an old micro-mini.
one could barely fit inside it.

I disagree. In fact I think it had more driver legroom than the Gen II Prius because the rearward travel of the driver's seat was a few inches further back than the Gen II Prius's.

I loved the '73 - '91 Civics. Great use of interior space. Very fun to drive -- a lot of "flingability"!

That's why I said "Our new xB is slightly different from your 2nd Gen bB". The old xB was the bB. The new one isn't.
