The April order from the Chicago Region, in the first tranche of 2010 Prius is 245 vehicles. Of those, 20% are Prius II, 30% are III, 40% are IV, and 10% V. Yet even though the Sunroof models are expected to be the hottest models, only 10 of the initial orders will have that feature. What kills me is that on this first order, only 1 vehicle for the entire 5 state region is a Prius V with Adv. Tech.

On a good note, the total order size of May and June orders are much larger, at 1086, and 1281 units.

I should have updated information soon for the May order, and will try to put it up here, unless someone else is able to beat me to it.

eglmainz, I'd "bet" that Package V w/ ATP is a Prius Priority order ;)

That's what I am afraid of. At least there are a lot larger orders for the next two months, so I should still be okay... Who knows, maybe I would 'settle' for a sunroof? Or maybe a V without the Adv. Tech...?

One of those orders will be cancelled today. I didn't like the "fees" tacked on in Illinois for the Prius Priority. The Hymotion kit or Tesla "S" is looking better.

I am really surprised at how few NAV and SR packages are being shipped. It seems that these are highly coveted by the folks on this forum (my wife too) and it looks like I'll probably end up with a "stripped" III or IV or have to wait. I assume that the Chicage order will be representative of the Maryland distribution. I hope to get something from the May allocation.

How soon until the regional order gets allocated to individual dealers? I'm wondering before I call my dealer and ask about mine although i'm in a different region. Thanks for the information.

Out of curiosity, which 5 states does this allocation include?

Wow, I can't believe only 1 out of the 245 is a Prius V with advanced tech! Guess I'll be having 'somewhat' of a unique car in some sense

Can any of our Chicago-area Toyota dealer friends tell us how the May & June order compare to 2G allocations?

At my dealer yesterday (informing them my priority had just been confirmed), I asked the salespeople there what they would point out first about the 2010 model. All responded with the LKA (Lane Keep Assist). Do they really think that's what will compel a typical consumer to buy?

Throughout the years, it has been the significant improvement to emissions & consumption combined with a couple of soon-to-be-common goodies to enhance the driving experience. Finding screens in vehicles is indeed becoming common, validating that choice as a mainstream feature.

Package V will be fantastic for demonstrating potential, but I can't imagine it becoming common. The consumer view will likely be similar to that of Avalon.

Package IV (the one I ordered) is what I expect as the most likely to be purchased by those seeking a "fully loaded" model. The benefits of the moonroof and the solar-panel will be obvious and enjoyed frequently... which is what I'm sure I'll be pointing out first to consumers.

From what I see so far, Toyota is making a lot of '10s available and they are building a lot of the lesser packages ( #1223s ) compared to the IVs and Vs--- which I am quite surprised to see that you foiks are wondering the opposite, why so many low packages coming?!!

To answer your question directly, as compared to the previous allocation of Prius, this allocation or roll out of cars is includes more cars that I though we'd see. I am happy to see the volume of cars shipped is so great.

Back to my origional rant, I'm glad to see more of the lower packages. All the orders I've taken so far are Prius II ( 1223 ). That's a great car! It's an 1224/ HG without the back-up cam but for $1500 less.

JOHN1701a--->> Wow, honored to be in your presence even if only on a forum. You've taught me more about the Prius through your web than I've learned over 5 years of Toyota Sales and Toyota sales training classes. You sure you wouldn't like to place that order with me down in Madison,WI? We would be honored to have your order.

I checked the build book. Somebody was telling EGL the wrong numbers, or they looked up the wrong zone.

In the chicago region: 850 total in May
    1223: 255
    1225: 204 Base, 26 w/ NV, 25 w/ SR, 255 total
    1227: 192 Base, 25 w/ NV, 38 w/ SR, 255 total
    1229: 79 w/ NV, 6 w/ AT, 85 total

That is the breakdown on what is coming into the chicago region.

And June will be 1549 units
    July 1362.

For the 09, January was 1375 units.

I see what EGL was talking about.. technically, the build started in april. His numbers are correct for april build. My numbers are what is being built in May for June shipment.

Life is odd. Who would have ever guessed that my tenacious approach would work so well in the effort to promote Prius. But 9 years later, people are still encouraging me.

Couple of weeks... I'll be in a 2010. Watch out!

It's our pleasure I'm sure. Our pile of 6956 is pretty weak. We could use some 4432s these days but what's up with dealers whoring them out when there are none to be had? Same is true of any 5346s.

Happy Selling today, it's odd that I'm on here on Saturday, shouldn't I be selling?

I feel the same way. Should be on the floor right now, but have a customer coming in in 10 minutes.. no point.

5346's are tough. I did have a customer last week argue that since the 2010 models are coming, we should discount them heavily. He wanted 800 below... net net net. Before rebate. And was genuinely shocked when I told him no.

Anyway, good luck today. Have you ever seen the movie "Sum of all Fears" with Ben Affleck? If you have, I'll be spinnaker. Call me if you need anything.

In CAT, the region below NY/NJ, the initial tranche is 222 vehicles.
    28% Prius II
    33% Prius III
    25% Prius IV
    15% Prius V with ~3/4 of these with the AT package ( 24 / 33 )
    rounding error.

( :) 2010 Prius IV w/ SR preferenced today - this lady's 4th Prius - and probable 2009 Package 6 later this week ) May is such a great month...
