Touring with 15 inch wheels

According to my 08 brochure, Touring's come with 195/55R16 tires and 16" rims.

Something seems wrong there.

 

I would check with the dealer. 185/65/15 is 76.9" diameter and 195/55/16 is 76.8" diameter so the 15" tire is .1 mph too slow.

We have an 08 and I know of several more and they all have the 16". The 09 specs at Toyota.com only show 16's on Touring. I bet someone associated with the dealer liked 16's and wanted them.
I would definitely question the dealer.

 

If your car has 15" wheels, is it possible that this is the standard Prius model and not the Touring model? All Touring models should have the 16" wheels. What does the Toyota window sticker say about the model and type of wheels installed?

You should get better mpg with the 15" tires because those are slightly narrower compared to the 16" tires.

Does your car have the big Touring spoiler, or the shorter spoiler that standard Prius comes with?

 

If they sold me a Prius for a touring price, I might talk to more than the dealer. Check your spare tire and see if it is a 15" or a 16" I'm not sure if there is a difference in the spare though. I can't check the spare in ours since it's about 750 miles away in VA. Does the window sticker and or receipt say "Touring"?

I just bought an '09 standard, and I have the '09 brochure on hand. I just checked, and the '09 Touring only comes with 16", 7 spoke alloy wheels and P195/55R16 tires.

You need to get thee back to the dealer, and find out what kind of trickery is going on.

I would definitely go back to the dealer if you had agreed to buy a touring. It sounds like they sold you a base pkg 6. Let us know the outcome.

 

What does your window sticker say, is your rear spoiler bigger, and have you matched up the VINs?

 

Something is rotten in Denmark (Or Oklahoma) As others said check the spoiler and contact Toyota and ask what you have. You will need to tell them the VIN number. Then ring your lawyer and the police. If it isn't a touring model but you paid for a touring model they deserve to go to gaol. (jail)

Maybe the wrong wheels managed to find the wrong car in the factory?
Spare tyres are all the same.

 

I just measured the spoiler on the standard Prius and if you measure on top from the window back it is 6.5". I think the Touring spoiler is about 2" longer.

Since your car contains package 6 options I would not call it a "base" model. Base refers to a vehicle with no option packages. I would call your car a standard Prius with option pkg 6.

I suggest you change your vehicle "package" in your profile to not indicate Touring, and I hope you enjoy driving your new car!

 

Your dealer still owes you the Window Sticker then.

The WS always comes with the new car selling, and the Prius Touring only comes with 16" wheels.

I also think that it is required by law that a new car have the windown sticker on it.

Sometimes, when you buy a new vehicle, the dealer will remove it when doing the final "detailing" prior to you picking up the car. If so, they will usually place it in the glove box. You should hold on to it for your records.

You will know if you have the correct window sticker, as your car's VIN will be on the sticker.

When on display in the lot or showroom (prior to your purchase), the sticker should have been affixed to a side window.

As long as he can make you a printout with all the original information, that should be good.

I'm assuming that this was a "brand new" car, and not a used one? If new, the mileage should of course be very low, maybe only from a few test drives, or from the dealer having the car driven over from another dealership.
