I understand. The problem is, I can't seem to pair my laptop with the Prius. For some reason the Prius cannot connect (or see) my laptop, but my laptop can see the Prius. After I enter the Prius' passcode, my laptop immediately shows the Prius Handsfree in its Bluetooth GUI while the Prius screen continues to show "Connecting..."
I just made this work using a MacBook and Prius Phonebook.app. Read the ReadMe file first (must have both phone and laptop connected).
try to add a phone and have your laptop bluetooth searh for it then add the 1111 code once it finds it. I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work by trial and error.
Not sure I understand what you meant. Try to add a phone to the Prius? Then get the laptop to find the phone? I was able to pair my laptop with my G1 phone fine before I tried to pair it with the Prius. Will do some more experimenting to see if there's any method to this mysterious madness...
I added a phone to the prius I named it what the laptop name was in the computer name (GMT6729) then it paired so I had a iphone and my laptop as phones in the prius. Then I sent my contacts to the prius with the laptop.
I had the exact same problem with my Macbook Pro OSX 10.5.6. It could see my 2009 Prius, but the Prius could not see it. The connection would never happen two way. I got the app that was posted earlier in this thread that is supposed to be able to transfer the address book from the Mac to the Prius. After several failed attempts, I emailed the guy who made it and he told me that it is a known problem with the 2009 Prius. If anyone is trying to do this with a Macbook Pro running 10.5.x and a 2009 I would advise giving up and finding another way. I lucked out and was able to use my wife's Blackberry Curve to transfer the address book. It had a nice "Transfer Addressbook" function on the phone once it was connected to the Prius. Good luck to anyone who can get it working with a Mac. It won't work with an iPhone until firmware 3.0 comes out.
OK I just finished trying my options with the iPhone 3Gs and iPhone OS 3.2.1 (that's the current version I think). Here's what I tried (sit back and laugh). iPhone alone: I did not even try that, because the iPhone does not support sending the phonebook via BT. I can though pair that with the Prius, and it works flawlessly. My Siemens handset I use in my house, an SL78H with Bluetooth. I could pair that with the Prius, but when I opted to send the whole list (the whole address book) as VCards via BT, it did not find the (previously remembered) PRIUS, but asked me if I wanted to pair with PRIUS. When I said yes, it asked me for the passcode, which I entered (and which was the same as before), but since the Prius already thought that the phone was connected, this lead to nowhere. Not working. I tried some other things, like pairing it from the send dialog... all cul de sacs. So I got me the tool for the Macbook, which was mentioned earlier in the thread, and tried that. No success. Not even after naming the Macbook like my iPhone. Not standalone. Not with another name... nothing. So, it looks like I either have a newer version of Prius software, which doesn't allow that anymore, or Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) doesn't allow the program to work. do not know. I still have a 10.5.8 system I can check with, but not today Looks like I will have to use somee old BT enabled telephone. Argh
