How do I get my MID out of day mode? I looked in the owners manual and it said something about the MPH/KM button. When the MID is not in day mode it will dim with the headlights. Thanks

Mine responds to the dash dimmer wheel. It clicks at full brightness, which also locks the Multi-Display in Day Mode. Otherwise, I believe you can get to the Day Mode soft-button by using the Display panel button. While dimmed, mine shows the Day Mode soft-button up near the top-right corner.

If it's not dimming, I'd check the panel dimmer wheel 1st.

You don't have an MID. The MID is being introduced with the 2010 model, so I assume you are referring to the MFD, which is a Multi-Function Display.

If your MFD is stuck in day mode, you have done one of two things, or possibly both:

    1) Rolled the dimmer wheel all the way up past the detent. Roll it down past the click and the MFD will work normally.

    2) Selected "Day Mode" from the display menu on the MFD. Unselect it to go back to normal operation.

My bet is on the dimmer wheel.

I didn't read your profile until just now. The Gen II and III Prius call it an MFD, but the Gen I uses different terminology. My mistake.
