    Hi all,
In Japan, the order entry is going to start on April 2nd.
Following Japanese pricing is now official.

It looks we can't have the LKA in Japan. :(

Thank you for the info Ken.

A question is in order: can you have 17" wheels with solar roof in Japan?

About the LKA, I think it only makes sense for big countries with long highways. Looking at the location of the LKA camera, I think you have to opt between solar roof, LKA, or light/rain sensors.

It seems they all occupy the same space cluster on top of the inside rear view mirror, so you can have only one of them. Could this be the reason?

Please refer to post#1 of this thread.
The solar panel option is for 15inch "S" and "G" only.
The Japanese only Estima Hybrid has the LKA option.
I don't know the reason, but I don't think it's cluster space reason.

Does ordering a solar panel/moonroof Prius also give you fog lamps in Japan?

    Ken1784,

Do these prices include local taxes? UK car prices are usually quoted including taxes as the amount you actually have to pay. I'm trying to compare back to UK money.

If so the S model at that price is right in Insight money here which makes me think that we'll pay approx 8% more after currency conversion. So an S would be around £17K (what a basic Gen2 costs now). That would put a G Touring Leather at £25K; which is what I was expecting a fully loaded (without sunroof) 2010 to cost.

All prices include 5% local taxes.
The Honda Insight is 1,890,000yen (includes 5% tax) and the price is same as Prius EX, remodeling 2G Prius.

    Ken-san,

Can you summarize for us? It looks like 2010 prices are lower than the 2009 model. If fully loaded, is 2010 still lower than the 2009?

I converted the JPYto USD for the G Touring Leather and it came out to $33.5k. It seems is still lower than the comparable(?) 2009 model.

Here in US, a fully loaded 2009 Prius Touring came out close to $28k. Does that means the top of the line 2010 Prius will be less than $28k (using Japanese price as the hint) ?

That translate to 89 MPG (US).

Sure! But, please give me a few more days to summarize.

Anyway, followings are latest Japanese news.

    - On April 1st, Toyota started to receive pre-orders, and the pricing is completely confirmed.
    - Toyota Japan already received more than 10,000 pre-orders in a week.
    - The production plan is 34,000 in May and 42,000 in June.
    - The sales plan was 10,000/month in Japan, so I think US people will see more than 20,000/month delivery.

That's like double the Insight pre-orders right? I remember Honda getting 5,000 in the first week.

    I don't know the Insight's pre-order status.
EDIT: Found the pre-order status. Honda got 5,000 pre-orders before the official launch.

But, Honda got 10,000 orders after 10 days from the official launch and 18,000 orders after one month.
The official launch date of 2010 Prius will be on May 18th in Japan.

You have to remember these are numbers for completely different test cycles. They do not apply to EU regulations or to USA regulations.

The most curious thing about these test cycles, to which of course Toyota is well aware, is that top speed on them falls within EV mode range without ICE crankshaft rolling.

Therefore most of the test if conducted with electric power only, leading to those incredible efficiency values.
