This is great information - but it's a shame that one can't get the LEDs with the solar moonroof on the IV......yet.

My engineer husband says he read that it's a weight issue with the moon roof and solar panel. The LEDs weight is more because of their power source, apparently.

Is it just because I am female that I am most concerned about the available colors?!?!;)

I really want them to offer YELLOW! Everyone gives me a patronizing, "We'll See" but why not?!? They sold all of those ugly green ones because everyone wanted to "Go Green"! Yellow is the perfect match for the new solar panel!:mod:

I posted this comment on 3-11-09 but for some reason it never showed up?!?!

Yes, if you don't mind people jumping into your car at a stoplight, and asking to be taken to Lindberg Field (San Diego Intl Airport). :p

Well, I was obviously being completely serious. Having read through the 30+ pages of this thread, it is clear that everyone here wants a Model V, no packages (and at a $24,900 msrp, too).

While my tone was incredibly rude, it was for the greater good. After all, there's no better way to get other people to agree with you on a message board than being pushy and obnoxious. I'm just helping Toyota produce the best Prius possible.

To those who read my post and either didn't care or thought I was joking, you're not taking this stuff seriously enough.

I am very excited about ordering my 2010 prius...still debating over package options...but overall I know I will be super happy with it. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the addition of 4wheel-disk brakes. My husband (used to be mechanic) is SO excited about this. I have a 95 civic right now (38 mpg) and the rear disk brakes have never had to be changed. They last so much longer and are a great new addition. Also, the touch tracer display and the water repellant glass are kick @$$!!!
I had to laugh as I read through all the complaints on here...I mean, no offense, I understand when we are buying a new car and at a $400+/month car payment, we want to be happy. But I am driving a 95 civic. I have to open my doors using (GASP) THE KEY!! I know. Shocking, right? Then I have to OPEN the driver door and push the unlock button in order to unlock the other doors. All while holding my purse, diaper bag, squirmy toddler, and dog leash. I somehow manage to do this. My trunk? Well, the release button doesn't work so I have to physically use the KEY to open that too! My seats are ripped, my window tinting is peeling off, my A/C works randomly (and usually not on the 95+ days), my aftermarket sunroof (installed by previous owner) takes about 10 minutes to shut due to some malfunction so I just never open it, and my transmission is about to go Ka-put. So all in all...the prius sounds like HEAVEN to me. Even the package II!!!
I guess my point is...we get spoiled. :)~ Nothing wrong with that but I will try my best not to under appreciate my new car when I get it. :)

Why is yellow the perfect match for solar panels? Oh wait a minute, I think I remember. Is the sun yellow? We don't see it in the winter, so I have forgotten. Maybe in a few weeks I can get a brief reminder.

I'm very sorry you feel this way -- and feel it for a number of things.

If you have read through all of the posts on the 30+ pages, then you have decided to ignore those which do not fit with your vision. Plenty of people have said they want something other than the Model V with no packages.

Yes, your tone was rude, but most of us had hoped your statement was intended more civily than it was perceived. I, for one, hoped it was simply a stab at humor. I'm sorry to read your proud confirmation of the rude writing, and I will disagree with your view that you must be rude, pushy or obnoxious to get noticed or get anything done. I do not see that "rude" and "common good" are necessary bedfellows.

Of the people who contribute to PriusChat, those who do so with the greatest effect appear to be those who offer well-intended advice and comment.

Have I not taken this seriously enough? I believe I have. A car is a car. It comes in a few models which are designed by the manufacturer so as to best fit its target audience. Toyota has shown it is a company of people who listen. Yes, they listen to the rude as well as the polite, but they likely will enter into real conversation with those who consider civil dialogue a necessary road to relationship.

I can relate to what you're saying, I've been driving my (old battle wagon) Jeep Cherokee since 1989 and I'm ready for a new 2010 Prius! Wooo-hooo! I can hardly wait! :)

Fair enough, but where in this thread or anywhere did Toyota say they were not going to make a Model V with no package? You tell your dealer what you want to order, they'll tell Toyota.

I'll also assume that if Toyota doesn't give you a $25k price tag, you'll b**** and moan because they don't see the price that you see?

I'll hav to disagree on the fact that you have to be pushy on a forum to get your point across. PriusChat is mostly civilized (esp. if you stay out of the political forum) and we have functioned well, answering many many questions (and very often repeated a 1000 times) without hesitance or complains (such as use the search function, noob).

However, you are entitled to your opinion. I'm just disappointed that it had to be in that tone :(

Yikes. Start with a lame joke, follow up with a sarcastic reply, and this is where you get. I mean, really, the sarcasm wasn't obvious? I guess I'll need to start using those "emoticons." Here's one:

If the sun was yellow it would look white to us.
The sun is white, it produces white light. If you live in a polluted environment it might look yellow but that is the brown air above you.

The perfect colour for a Prius with solar is a pearl white to reflect the full spectrum of the suns rays.

Ha ha, that's why I picked that combo in the end. However I'd argue (tongue in cheek) that the paint reflects color into my eyes and not into the panels. :p

Yea, I pay the sun tax and get the great weather, but you were close enough to go see the Prius when it was released in January! That makes me green with envy!
